Yea some kids from school think it’s funny that I’m brown so they ask me if I’m Indian or something in a really obnoxious tone and so I give them a taste of their own medicine by saying something that would offend their race.

But, if a person is sincerely asking, then I tell them no I’m Pakistani now don’t ever make that mistake again otherwise I will stab you.

Really, usually I just politely tell them. But, sometimes it can get annoying and so then I like to have a little fun and reply in a major FOB accent “Vhy, yes I am fram New Delhi Injia ”

How do you react if someone asks you that ?

1. Politely tell them you are from Pakistan.
2. Look angry & offended.
3. Feel too ashamed to mention Pakistan, and ignore the question, or even mumble yes.
4. Any real life situations you want to share.

I’m Pakistani, and people always think I’m Indian…

At a wedding recently, I met a Pakistani lady who worked with me for years…when I introduced her to my mom she was taken aback and said ‘hey this is your mom? I’ve known her for years and all this time I’ve thought you were Indian!’

My answer is #2 obviously. No one ever mistook for Indian and thats true for majority for Pakistanis- we don’t look en inch Indian at all. Me might get mistaken for Greek, Arabs, Iranians and Turks (mostly)- but yes mahajir race is Indian. What Indians look like? Kala, short and what any bud-parast quam would look like? Phoenix51 jee, aap Karachi se ho ya Punjab se?

My question was to the Pakistani's living abroad- Probably you are still in Pakistan, and have never been asked such questions.

I am an Indian, and yes I too have blundered by asking some people if they were from India - whereas they were in fact from Pakistan.

All of them were pretty polite.

This has never happened to me because people always think i am emirati or arab, indian or pakistani is a long story lol this is because i can speak arabic and wear abaya and sheila emirati style. Then they are very shocked when i tell them that i am british but of pakistani origin.
