Are You Financially Dependent On Your Parents?

i give me parents money. its the other way around. :fraudia:

My parents are King and Queen of the world :queen:

P.S I am the heir to the world :queen: in england :queen:

Hmm worked for a while before - that too for the family.Kind of a bit weird, but anyhow.I find that studying and working tend to be too stressful. For me, working is an option - well thats what my parents think.Uni wasnt/isnt bad, went off with a scholarship.InshAllah in a year I’ll be working full time.Dont have any debts and I have a bit of money saved up.Most of which was given to me.Alright Im a spoiled cow.

(canada here btw)

Please don’t think I am picking on you, but this one statement really made me smile. Good for ya! :k:

Okay, now I feel like crap. I have never really worked. But! I managed my parent's stocks one summer and whatever profit I made went towards the uni tuitions and other expenses related to me. I made a killing as a day trader. :-D

I should have worked, atleast flipped burgers, stuffed tacos, waited tables etc..but I did not and now I am going to be all nervous and unsure when I do graduate and get a real job. Ofcourse it will be different with my kids, they will work once they cross the legal limit, which is what? 13 or 14 in the U.S.

feels like crap and finds comfort in a bucket of rocky-road

cbio dont worry I didnt do anymore than that either.

I notice two commonlities amongst those who have worked while studying:

  1. It has taught them to manage their time wisely
  2. It gave them independence and provided them with confidence

I must say working did teach me how to manage my time wisely. Alhamdulillah, I've become an excellent time-manager.

I try to study on a regular basis and try to get a little bit of work done everyday rather than leaving it all for the last minute.

Unfortunately, I'm a big spender on food and clothing. For some reason, I've had this approach of spend what I make, while trying to save a little bit of it.

So far, my college tuition has all been paid off through the scholarships I received. I'm just hoping that I get a few more to help me get through college and university, insha'Allah.

Lastly, working experience made me more outgoing and vocal. To a degree I'm still shy and at times I find it difficult to strike up conversations, but overall I've improved to a great degree and in most cases I don't have problems fitting in and communicating with others, alhamdulillah.

i have never worked. my parents believe that i should study and once i get a full time job then i can take care of my self. infact they stopped me from working. :p

^ spoilt brat :p

oh great! Now I fall into the category of the likes waleed and mq.

brings out rocky-road again

all u khawateen stop being so damn jelous

wasay MM je: i have till this day never been unreasonable with my demands. my mum got me the cloths, and i never really went out with my friends until i started uni last year. so :stuck_out_tongue:

u let ur mum buy u clothes????????

bless...thats so cute...kinda like Darcy wearing his mothers hand knitted jumpers!!

Oh, hehe, I shoud have mentioned I was here as a foreign student and since the tuition is double, my scholarship covered only half the expenses :frowning: Well I was a kid out on my own for the first time without family, it was harrrrrd!!!

well I was one of those careless guys back in the starting of high school so didnt want to work. beside food, clothing and small expenses is all i had so it wasnt necessary anywayz. Skip forward to my last two years in high school and realized most of my friends were working either full time or part time. Also a bit more mature, i didnt want my parents to be paying for my regular expenses so got hold of PT job and did fulltime in those summers. Great experience i must say as it really boosted my confidence and gave dat joy dat i wasnt completely relying on my parents for everything.
Then came univ, because the breaks are a lot longer therefore i decided to do full time job rather than work part time during the semesters. It went good too Alhamdulliah but the only downturn was I was planning to go visit pakistan which got cancelled. I have quite a heavy course load next sem so will prob work fulltime again in summer.

P.S .........from Canada.

I really didn't have to work during my college days..either i threw rave parties at my apartment and provided splendid atmosphere for relieving that stress, or sold weed on campus. Made a decent living, and never was a burden on parents.

While the parties went until late at night, there were still left over chores like taking care of the retards that had binge drank, and passed out. After the clean up, early mornings were spent cramming for the lectures, but I have always been a gifted student, so most of the time, I always ended up doing better than the bozos that had over extended themselves by studying too hard. After the lectures, the evenings were spent making rounds on campus, hanging out with friends, and selling weed. I did arite. Now, I am a successful applications developer with a fledging career. I guess, one just ought to be cool and unswerving while pursuing goals and ambitions..all the rest falls in place…
