Today I was told at work that I’m not allowed to read books anymore during lunch breaks. Suddenly I have to sit and ‘chat’ mindless babble with colleagues. I’ve done that for weeks, it’s boring. And I already talk enough with them during work even. I’d rather read interesting books when I have a break.
Can they seriously forbid me to read during breaks? Aren’t breaks supposed to be some time for myself?
What do you do during lunch breaks? Are you allowed to read if you’d want to or go outside?
Re: Are you allowed to read during lunch break at work?
I’m a facilitair assistant at a secondary school in the cooking lessons area. It’s temporary and finished in april. I’ve been there since january this year.
