Are you afraid

of death. Almost all of us,i guess, suffer from the fear of it. How do you cope with it, which is my main question. Also have you or anyone that you know has ever experienced a Near-Death experience. Generally, its thought to be some situation(accident etc) where one had a close call with death, but its a term used to describe a state when a person is declared clinically dead, in simple words has died but then came back to life.(i am sure everyone knows that but added in case..)

But the main purpose is to know how do you deal with it? the fear. And when, if it ever engulfs you how badly it effects you.

Are you afraid

I start offering prayers..-and try doing all i could to be true muslim..this fear is v important for us to stay on a right path..

Re: Are you afraid

I’m not afraid of dying, but, oddly enough, I’m almost looking forward to it… not because I’m crazy :hehe: but I really want to know what happens to us after we pass away. I’m of what will happen after our soul departs… because I don’t know.

I don’t personally know anyone who has had a near death experience, only stories that I’ve heard through other people. If Allah (swt) makes us promise we’ll return to him when he calls us, why does he send them back?

I guess, if you’re afraid of death, doing what Tpervaiz suggested must help - Bettering yourself as a Muslim and looking forward to good things after death, In Sha Allah.

Re: Are you afraid

Indeed Allah test you by fear as well as in surah baqarah Allah says...

Re: Are you afraid

*mind spinning. seriously? you are just too brave i guess.

Thankyou everyone for your responses. Death is scary and the fear as well. The whole phenomenon of soul pulling out of the body in itself sounds scary. Nobody knows what sort of death experience they are going to have, as in how easily soul is liberated from the body or…

Re: Are you afraid

I think many people are not so much afraid of death itself but the punishment that could afterwards.

Re: Are you afraid

Qabar ka azaab terrifies me. How do you deal with it? When you're already in your qabar....by then it's too late to "deal" with it, at that stage you will be dealt with. So, you deal with it in this life...by not only observing the five pillars, but also paying attention to your tongue and your heart. Allah looks at our hearts, so we need to monitor the thoughts/feelings/intentions in our hearts...and also pay attention to words (even those said in jest) which might be hurting others and we may not be aware of it...and the backbiting. The sins we commit against Allah, He may forgive. But those we commit against our fellow Muslims, He won't forgive unless they forgive us. So, we could be good with our namazain, rozay, zakat etc....but go to the grave burdened by sins our tongues and limbs committed against each other. Also, in the Quran, the word katheera often follows the word dhikr or dhikran...meaning kasrat se zikr karo. Hearts find rest in Allah's remembrance or zikr. Sheikh Hamza Yusuf says that if you're upset...you're not doing enough dhikr. And durood is said to be a cooling dhikr that purifies the heart and is a light for the graves. It's natural to fear death and dhikr can help reduce that fear.

yes and in addition to this, not following what one preaches forcefully.
