Or what if I ask ‘are you Persian?’ Or ‘Are you an Arab?’ Or ‘Are you an American?’
So how come I got 15 points for asking someone ‘Are you Bengali?’
Is being Bengali considered a cuss word? If it is, then why and if it is not then why was I given 15 points…
Keep in mind, I really don’t care about the points…You can give me 100 points for asking someone’s name…I am just curious, why was I given warning points for asking someone if they are Bengali?

**You must have Asked them in Punjabi.............:) **
**Bengali's have pretty low opinion of Punjabi's.........:( **
Obviously you're implying something when you asked him that question. You didn't do it once, but it's happened numerous times. If you wanted to ask him an innocent question, you should asked : "where are you from?". You didnt.
Why do you insist on asking him is he's specifically Bengali? WHY didnt you ask him if he's American? Or Persian? Of course you wouldnt ask him if he was Arab. You love Arabs. But again, why did you ask if he was Bengali. Do you have something against them? It seems to a lot of people that you look down upon Bengalis. IThat you'd get some ammunition if he confessed to being Bengali.
Why we call them Bengali ?
It has to be *Bangla-deshi *...
there is no Bengal but Bengla Desh!
well, I had a long debate on this issue while in Uni in MI, and I was conviced by a Bangladeshi brother that, its not nice to call them Bengali, actually its a tone, which makes them feel uncomfortable !
Being Muslims we must avoid to hurt feelings of other Muslims! ...

bro-in-law refers to himself as bengali (insert bengali accent here)
Bangalies who live in Paksitan are Pakistanies… So when, we want to identify them as we identify ourselves as, Bihari, Punjabi, sindhi, Balochi, Pashtoon, Saraaeki, etc. we can not call them Bangali because it’s disrespectful:konfused:
Is the language Bangla Deshi or Bangla or Bangali?
Seems like I posted a reply in this thread but maybe forgot to hit the post button...
Anyways, the question can be viewed as of two types...
1) A regular question anyone asks anyone: Are you Chinese, Indian, Arab, American e.t.c.
2) Or you can be a schizo and read into a simple question like hskhan did above...
In both cases, it's your mentality that comes into play...I just asked a simple question that anyone can ask, and I got points for it...I don't care for the points...It's the perplexity behind receiving the points...
