The topic is obviously self-evident. So, a few friends were going back and forth arguing for and against buying products made in the “other” country which is seen as being hostile.
Guy 1 says: You should always buy products made from homeland, if available, even if it costs a little more. Because that’s the principled thing to do.
Guy 2 says: My needs know no principle. I’ll buy whatever is cheaper, even if it’s made in the neighboring country.
So, what’s your take on it? Surely, you must have thought about it while grocery shopping. Or buying spices, or other asian food items that are unique to the region.
And let me just say this to clear the awkwardness right now, there are no rights or wrongs. Every person makes decision based on several reasons which are perhaps better than mine.
Personally, while at the market, I will always buy Pakistani products even if they cost a little more. But if a Pakistani origin product is not available, I’ll opt for South American or American (Usually fruits). It just feels like THE thing to do.
I am guilty of buying cheaper things if I can find them. However, I do try to be more careful not to buy products made in developing countries but are being sold in canada by multinationals...I am aware of it but I dont necessarily take the right action at all times.
When I go to the Indian store, I pick up whatever I need - I dont check to see if it is made in Pakistan or India or some other countries. Most pickels and frozen Naans etc come from different countries - dont care about hostilities garbage.
Almost never buy stuff made by the Enemy since 1992. Prefer to buy Pakistani stuff/fruit even if expensive (although if its too expensive I'll go without it). Esp mangos. Any Pakistani who buys Indian mangoes is dead to me.
If quality is close and there is not a huge diff in price.
There is no reason to reward shoddy quality on an ongoing basis. Blind support of poor quality based on some national pride rewards no one except the people sacrificing quality for a quick buck. The entirety of UK and much of US auto industry is proof of just that.
It applies not just for country of origin but brand, retailer, etc etc.
I normally purchase the superior product at the best value. It's always a good feeling when you see products that say Made in Pakistan I'll admit. As most sports goods are....
Gul ahmed sells to ikea for besheets and towels!!!!!!
I peed in my pants when i found out!!!!!!
See...i cant stop using the !!!!!!!!!
How friggin cool!
They sell the same prints in their stores in pak...
I dont care honestly... As long as the thing is of good quality
I was put off buying quite a few packaged goods from paki stores cuz damnit... Expired maal ... And they didnt care...happened a few rimes and then i quot...used to go to an indian store instead... Maybe it was just coincidence?
Well ya see..when i see some tshirt or shirt made in Pakistan it sure interests me to buy the product. However..heck no to nationalism. If i find fair price for good quality product i buy it.
I buy Pakistani rice and Indian spices. I have tried so many brands but all the Pakistani rice taste the best, on the other hand, Indian spices and beans are of very good quality. Pickles, sauces and drinks I buy are also from Pakistan. I think it' just a nostalgic thing rather than a nationalistic thing.
