Re: Are you a father-to-be?
Not nuts at all! Hubby's been doing the same since we found out. I think it's cute and important. It can be hard for the father to feel a bond with the child until later; often he's not involved in the doctor's appointments and cannot feel the movements. The child is very real to the mother early in the pregnancy. It's important to encourage dads to develop their own bond.
Re: Are you a father-to-be?
Thank you so much everyone, for making me feel human. And thank you for the kind words and prayers. They are appreciated and needed:)
Knowing that other fathers do the same makes me feel 'normal'. After our first meeting with the doctor last week, my wife said that the ultrasound showed that the baby has a heartbeat. That was my first realization of fatherhood, and now Im glued to babycenter.com most of the time, reveling in the fact that now my baby has ears the size of a lentil, nose the size of a rice grain, and his/her heart is beating at 100-160 beats a minute, and Im tempted to ask my wife to lie down all the time, since the baby must be exhausted to have a heartbeat that fast...but then, of course, my wife knocks me back into this world. aah, joys of fatherhood
Re: Are you a father-to-be?
^ She'll probably start feeling the exhaustion of the first trimester soon. It's great she has such an attentive husband.
Best wishes for both of you and the baby!
Re: Are you a father-to-be?
You will make a great father inshaAllah. Congratulations in advance and may Allah bless your wife with a healthy pregnancy and may you both be blessed with a healthy child.
Re: Are you a father-to-be?
Awww congratulations on embarking on this wonderful journey! Your wife will need your full continued support for the rest of her pregnancy so good job thus far!
Re: Are you a father-to-be?
Congratulations to both you adn your wife! May all go smoothly for the three of you, Ameen.
Re: Are you a father-to-be?
Support her, respect her, pamper her and treat her nicely....
Surprisingly (or not?) alot of men aren't so caring and wonderful.
Re: Are you a father-to-be?
Many congrats. :)
Re: Are you a father-to-be?
aww thats very loving.. im sure u will make a great father.
men cant feel anything when their wives become pregnant.. so some rely on such exterior sources to feel a bond with their unborn..
my husband would make me watch star wars episodes so the baby would be born with the love of the what i think is the dumbest thing on earth to watch. only time will tell if our baby likes the idiocy that his father would probably have married if it came in human form.
and u have ended up at the perfect source of info. babycentre is amazing. even after ure baby is born.
praying for a healthy and safe delivery for the mrs :)
Re: Are you a father-to-be?
^ My husband wants to name our child "Darth."
Re: Are you a father-to-be?
my husband wanted to name our baby katongo.. after one of his fav football players. he can do so when we have our 10th and i could care less what its called.
Congratzz and its a very normal thing and its cute.my hubby used to talk to a baby when I 25 weeks.
My wife reads books during Boston Legal, which I make her watch with me on account of it being my favorite show. As much as I like Alan Shore, I dont think think Im ready to name our baby that:)
In further updates, our baby now has a tail
and paddle like limbs. My wife doesnt feel like eating anything and feels nauseous a lot. The doc said thats normal. Well, its not pleasant.
Dumbosity of the day: I slept with his/her first ultrasound pic by my pillow last night. Might keep it in my wallet.
