it's very true...actually, it's the absolute truth. women have always been giving in relationship across all races/ethnic groups. things have changed in the west and it has been continuously changing in our culture...someday, our women might even surpass their western counter-part.

Eastern, in terms of sacrifice , ignoring self to achieve happiness for the kids and husband etc .. you know , that feeling where a person forgets self , their wants , wishes, pains and just focuses on family . I see that kind of feeling more in women then men and hence my question, are women more giving then men ..

I think both partners in an average marriage sacrifice parts of themselves to make it work. This doesn't mean there aren't any marriages where one makes more compromises than the other. Like Shak said, men and women have different ways of expressing their feelings about it. Women tend to over analyze their emotions and relationships and that's why they are more vocal about their issues, scarifies, and compromises. Men can compartmentalize these things and hence, don't feel the need to over analyze something that doesn't require much thinking.
You know what they say, think less to be happy. It's just true. Married men are happier and married women are unhappier than ever.

nowadays no one is giving anything, everyone is just withholding and waiting for the other person to do all the compromises/sacrifices

^not true at all. Almost every couple I know has made a ton of compromises to make their marriage work. How else would a marriage survive? Sometimes he bends, sometimes she does. (Ok, not the bending you are thinking, gutter minds!) if one keeps bending to others' wishes, he/she will break eventually or will be taken for granted. He/she will always be expected to compromise. What happens when one gets taken for granted? He/she becomes resentful. Marriages where one partner holds a grudge or is resentful are likely to go bad.

women are more in love with the idea of being in love than men are.
when it comes to real life, everyone makes sacrifices when push comes to shove - men, women.. women probably get pushed and shoved a lot more and have fewer choices.
these are just a few random generalizations i just made up. like everything else on this thread, pure bs. kthanksbai.
