I don’t disagree what you saying. I am big fan of animals and bio-mimicry.
All I am saying how human come so far with so little physical or natural skills.

Almost like we were meant to live in a different world and given tools to do so.

Re: Are we special?

But it is the same with all the creatures…Right?

Now let us mention GOD here. The same creator of we humans is the same creator of all other creatures and objects in this universe .Right?Or even the universe was created by GOD. So do you think he will give special abilities to we humans and show bias towards other creatures?

In my opinion GOD has given the same preference to each and everything in this world and we humans are yet to explore the importance of our `other’ beings.

Monk Bhai,I am waiting for the day our human race will wake up to a flash news that somewhere on our planet earth an U.F.O was spotted,it got rounded up or snared or crash landed and the evidence of existence of aliens or extra terrestrial people(creatures) is proven. This will be a massive blow to our self styled(yet so artificial and so fragile) flamboyance of `dominance’ over other life forms.

Muzna said something on my Facebook page that made me thinking.

If you look at it, we are a very weak creature. In comparison, human babies are the weakest of all. They are extremely vulnerable for the first few years, and don't have physical or mental toughness to protect themselves. It takes good 14/15 years for a human to reach optimal strength. That is a life time for many animals. Even for the animals who live longer than humans, the babies reach the full grown up potential within few months.

Next thing is our emotions or the psychological state. You don't see animals suffering from emotional or psychological stress. That is why you don't see things like insomnia, nervous break downs, suicides and such in animals.

If weaknesses can be taken as speciality, then yes we are special

Re: Are we special?

Boss does that weakness and other issues help humanity grow? help humanity develop it self ?
Think about it.

For most of the part, I won’t call it a growth. I would call it an adjustment. Remember that its the survival of the fittest. Porcupine grew thorns to defend himself, chameleon learnt how to change its color to hide in the surrounding, humans developed weapons.

Re: Are we special?

as much as I am mad at science for inventing weapons, its still not the only thing science created.
I know to modern man its hard to imagine, cutting edge science with out Govt–>military interest+funding, in it.
But that’s not how things were, all those old European scientists did not do thing to make weapon.
Whole facilities type and whole medicine type inventions came about to cover gap between our desire/weakness and our imagination.

And the tools human used was cumulative knowledge.
Which funnily mentioned in quran right after creation of human.

Re: Are we special?

I think I came into wrong discussion. Also I never called human special.
I only identity their difference from other living things.
Also human using pen/written word to learn and share knowledge is no accident.

I wont be too surprised,to see another creature coming to earth, since in quran its always mentions "worlds" not world(only world).

Advancement in medical science is an acknowledgment of how susceptible we are to the surroundings.

Re: Are we special?

yes.
So susceptibility caused human growth.

PS: I never used word susceptibility before. :D

Did you Google first to check the meaning? :D

Re: Are we special?

yes

Re: Are we special?

May I quote the first use of susceptibility?

Re: Are we special?

We are special, just like everyone else

How do you know that? They may, for all we know.

It looks chaotic/unorganised but other species also have a system of communicating and doing things which we may not understand.

Re: Are we special?

^ A cause is predetermine by its effect. The reason we can be sure that for most of the part animals dont go through emotional or psychological stress is because we have not observes effects like insomnia, nervous break downs, suicides and such in animals.

Re: Are we special?

Then animals are very special. They do not have to undergo all these states.

On a serious note:Why humans undergo all these because of our social commitments and obligations. You are a NASA scientist and if your project does not go well, you will feel all these states.Animals do not have to undertake such things barring hunting and intercoursing and safe guarding their cubs. But have you noticed the pain of a mother elephant that just lost it's baby? The same is with monkeys.
