Southee Please…Murder is Murder but let’s not pretend like everywhere-else it’s rosy or everything that goes on in the West will be totally acceptable in desi societies. Even so, in tabloids it is not uncommon to read stories about people harassing or killing their ex-partners out of jealousy or for money matters and in some cases even killing their children to pay back ex’s infidelity!!!
Every society has it’s own norms and standards. Even in the same country tribal mentality (esp. rural areas) is very different to that of people with no tribal roots or connections. Honour killing is not rare among such people.
You have words like maan, maryada, ghar ki izzat even in hindi..
She had it coming does not = she deserved to die but that she was putting her own life at risk by acting the way she did in a conservative society. It was just a matter of time before someone harmed her and sadly for her it had to end this way.
