i have heard people say this too, that their children changed within a few days of receiving a vaccine. however, it could be that they start showing signs of autism at a certain age which coincides with the vaccine. the fact that some show it so closely to a vaccine could be pure coincident. so far CDC has denied any links between the two and some study done by a doctor some years back was found to be fraudulent. i have many doctors in my family including my mom, husband, sister and they all think its absurd to think that vaccines can cause autism. but when you think of becoming a parent yourself, its normal to get a bit more paranoid about every possibility , hence i am going crazy trying to find answers for everything.
unfortunately, people are running away from MMR, chickenpox and polio vaccines. children are getting mumps, measles. i dont think there has been cases of polio in this country yet, but it’s just a matter of time that it will be seen again
I didn’t think the flu vaccine was recommended for those not ‘at risk’ anyway (over 60s, those with compromised immune systems etc)?
My parents were always pretty obsessive about us having our vaccines but I was never asked to take it, just the standard BCG, MMR, ones for Pak like Typhoid, Cholera and so on..
We have a very close friend who had it happen to her baby. He was perfectly fine and according to her he changed overnight after having his vaccinations. I don’t remember which ones they were but the ones you get closer to 1 years.
He was diagnosed with autism shortly after that ..
My children have been vaccinated and so was I.
I’d be more worried if my kids weren’t vaccinated. And regarding the flu vaccine. Pregnant women have to get the flu vaccine!! There have been so many deaths due to the flu, yes the flu, in the past couple of years. Same goes for my kids … I’d better be safe than sorry.
someone told me his kid stopped talking at once, was self centered after MMR vaccine, n now the child is autistic, don’t know how true is tht.
I got all vaccines as mentioned in baby’s health card. the only option we had was for flu vaccine if we want or not, I had tht in first year not after tht.
I have had all the vaccines and so have my kids. The only thing I don’t do is the flu vaccination as it’s not recommended here unless you’ve a systemic disease or are immune compressed.
My toddler has all of them so far. We have been giving his is flu one was well. But i am thinking of stopping it from next year. I want him to build his own immune system a little bit.
After MMR, my toddler did have a really high fever (didn’t from any othe,) but apparently that was normal. Alhumduliah he is totally ok
i have heard this from many people as well, especially in this area (newyork/newjersey). i think it’s the MMR given around that age. but so far, there hasn’t been any evidence that supports vaccines causing autism. it is a possiblity that since the symptoms of autism start to show around a certain age which coincides with the vaccine, parents seem to think its the vaccine. but the fact that sometimes these symptoms and vaccine are so close together, its just a bit scary. i try to think positive and go by what the doctors say. when i have children, i will most likely vaccinate as there is still no evidence of it causing harm.
The same happened to my brother, it was 20 odd years ago though. Vaccines may have been improved now, but that the MMR jab was pointed as the cause back in the 90’s. My mum recalls my brothers blood curdling screams all night, to the point where the neighbours came over to see if everything was alright. He has been diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome.
and this really pisses me off when parents do this to their kids… then send them off to daycare with so many other little souls getting infected.
Fine you dont want your child to vaccinated, but then take due cautions when your child does become infected, and DO NOT send them to childcare… the amount of pain and anguish other parents have to go through, is not something that can be taken lightly.
I belive it is better to be safe than sorry and my pediatrician said the same thing that the choice is yours but autism signs and mm shot is given around the same time. I don’t know if the connection between the two is true or not but the fear is enough to keep up any parent at night.
There was a MMR vaccine scandal in the 90’s, I dont know whether it was as far stretched as USA or Canada etc. But it was certainly the case in the UK, Tony Blair refused to have his children vaccinated as well. I dont know what the current position is and dont want to put any of you off having your children vaccinated. But I should think the vaccine has since been upgraded.
My views are based strictly on my personal experience. I wouldnt advise you to rely on just my experience with the MMR, when making a decision x
Me and my friends (who both have autistic child) have started a Facebook book page called Desi Families for Autism. We always felt there is lack of a platform where desi families can get together and share experiences. Please like the page and join in the conversation
