Hi guys, I seem to be jumping all over the place but I was thinking, all those people who think our culture is backward, are they right or wrong or maybe both? Any replies, any suggestion???

hmmm, both! know why? welll, becuz some of our traditions are solely based on lack of education! stuff like jahez, women just being housewives, men being the macho providers (with their moustaches twirled in 'daisi kiyo')and alot of other crap! but there r things that make our culture unique and not backwards! hmmm, take our dresses for example! :)hmmm, what else... oh yeah our weddings r da bomb too! all the different rasams and riwayaats make it all very cool! :)i personally think that we should just follow the ways of islam...the sunnahs of our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and we will all do just great! :)

I don't think that any culture can be called backward. it would be the people's approach that would be either progressive or regressive.

In my view our culture is not yet defined as one we are still searching for our roots .
Although the part of the world where we abode is the cradle of oldest civilizations but if we embrace our past than we may be branded as infidels but we are hypocrates in this sense.
Our people talk of our islamic roots but islam came in 700 ac and it spanned over a max of 600 years before this this land was known as gandhara or indus valley ,hindu shahia and what not it kept on changing its shape and we are an amalgamation of so many influences that to derive a particular influence will be unfair as long as we analyze the influences and rationalize their results to define our culture
Unfortunately we donot have credible literary people to honestly devise a national cultural image.
Till all this spade work is done we will have this quagmire ,complexity and chaos.But we have much to cherish about and to be proud of.
