Are they protected?

What sort of protection do tribal militias get? Do they get any state help?

Re: Are they protected?

I guess your speaking about Khyber Paktunkhwa?

Well for a long time Tribal Millitia are very self relient, anyone who knows Pakistans hill tribes must know of places like Darra Adam Khel where you can arm a tribe with anything from antique muzzle loaders to AK Ak guns and even stuff James Bond would love to get his paws on…

They dont really get any direct help from the government at least not that they want you to know anyway… though theres always financial kickbacks here and there and other proxy setups.

But on the Whole the Millitias have always been and continue to be pretty self relient…

Now With the Americans on the scene in recent times there are several echoes of operations like the Long Silver Train fiasco but it’s all hush hush and I dont want to start perking up the conspiracy theorists round here who would love to get thier hands on that sort of info…:cb:

Re: Are they protected?

The tribes are not fighting each other though. They are fighting a group which has a lot of battle experience with good weaponry too. On top of that the enemy is also striking in the heart of the communities especially when they are exposed the most.

The tribes are losing lots of their people. It must be very hard for them. I dont see why they should not want government help as it would help them. The question is are the government and military supporting these tribes?

Re: Are they protected?

Well your right the tribes are suffering badly but at the same time I must add they are more used to it than we could imagine. In terms of experience the Tribals are probably better specialised and have a superior combat technique and staying power than the American and thier allies... in fact the tribes have never lost... ever.

True the Western forces and Pakistani army both attacked them with superior weaponry but simple fact is unless they wipe out the tribes nobody can beat them... they are quite simply born fighters.

The Goverment is split on this one... while it actually supports the Americans wipe out many Tribals, even attacking them on the premise that they are harbouring Millitants for which the evidence is very patchy and in several cases flawed....

The Tribes are incredibly resilient and yes there are elements in the Pak forces that actively support the Tribals. In fact thats part of the reaosn for American and Pakistani relations being so stretched...

Oh and the Tribes might not be fighting each other as you say but in fact it seems they are... not only by choosing to side or ressist with the powers but also they have always been fighting each other and most likely after this war they will go back to fighting amongst themselves it's thier way.
