So i’m attending a few weddings this summer, and i have some outfits that my khala or mum got for me 2 or 3 years ago, never got to wear them so I thought this could be the occasion. However, I don’t really am aware of the different trends all year round, and i don’t know which outfits you are still able to pull off a few years later, or are they just too outdated ?
so i need your help and advice about this outfit for example : it has mirror embellished dupatta and kameez, and the shalwar is.. weird, i have no idea what it’s called, but it’s at the bottom :
this is a more simple outfit but it has a lot embellishments and more bling-y than it looks in the picture, when i went to pakistan 4 years ago, these type of work were in, but is it still wearable now ?
i know i don’t have to follow trends and all that, but i’m just asking if the pink outfit is too outdated to wear at a wedding ?
You could get away with the first one (if it's long enough or perhaps you can add a patch to the bottom) but the second one looks quite dated..those shalwars haven't been around since a while now..
thanks !! i’ve never liked short shirts so i don’t have any except for night time, i’ll see if i can have a matching shalwar then, i really don’t feel comfortable in it either, do yo think the mirror embroidery is ok though ?
it's so depressing to look at my clothes, they just FEEL old. i think i'm just gonna go to london for a day and do some shopping. any ideas on what style to look for ? something i can wear on weddings AND evening occasions..
The pink/white one you can get away with. I wear outdated clothes all the time - with a little thought in accessorizing and makeup it doesn't look too bad. But then I don't live in Pakistan, and no one around me here would ever make a condescending remark... The mirrors one I wouldn't advise you to wear xox
haha don't u girls be sorry, i know i don't like these anyway, that's why i never wore them, but it was all i have to wear, so it's nice t have your opinions, now i don't have to be guilty giving them away.
ps : i got the light mint green one from bareeze indeed

i live in europe and the few pakistanis here are not into fashion at all !! they're very outdated themselves so i have no idea what kind of clothes you can still wear. my sis is into fashion and all that so she gets some nice outfits, i'll probably borrow/steal a few from her :)

Hehe, I love this about living abroad. I wore an OOLLDD lengha a couple of days ago to a wedding, and it looked fine. A few weeks ago I wore a really old style anarkali to a dinner - the ones where the top half comes down to your just above your belly button and then the dress flares out. I got compliments and was nominated for best dressed! lol!!!!
But that's cool, nicking from sisters is standard :)
