I was looking at the domestic cricket team names and apart from a couple none of the others make any sense. Quetta Bears??? Faisalabad Wolves???
I can appreciate the progressive thought of the PCB in naming the city based teams with catchy names but it doesn’t sound original.
How about if you were to name the teams..what would you name them?

Karachi Bhayyaas
Lahore Pehalwaans
Islamabad Tattoos
Faisalabad Doodhwaalay

People will get used to the names (wolves, bears, panthers etc). It’s a good start by PCB. If the idea catches on, people pay for tickets, sponsorship follows and money is good, we could see international club cricketers coming over as well. Pakistanis play an EXTREMELY aggresive style of cricket and many youngsters around the world admire that. It’s not a stretch to think that some of them would want to come and play for the Panthers, or the Bears.

No, heck even Pakistanis would'nt want to associate with 'dhoodWalas' or 'pahori ponds'. However, a kid playing in small town Pakistan would aspire to playing for Panthers one day.

I think these names are copy cat of USA teams of baseball, basketball, football and hockey. The difference is the names of USA has some origins behind it and the names of Pak are just copy cat. :D
