Are there converts out there

I have a weird question. May be someone with know more can shed some light.

I see a lot of new converts to Islam everyday poping up on Internet and local mosques here in North America, UK and Netherlands etc. To the best of my knowledge it seems most of them are converting to main stream Sunni Islam despite of all the negatives in media for last 10 years.

What I was wondering is are there any known cases of ordinary people or prominent figures converting to other school of thoughts? (minus Nation of Islam organization in US and Qadiyaniz in Canada/UK/RSA).

Re: Are there converts out there

Well I personally know 2, one girl and a guy who "converted " to 12er imamis from being atheist

both are in US

they spew the usual propoganda they you will find from 12er imamis , just like the pseudo-salafi converts do

The person who impressed me the most and whose conversion is better than 1000 other laymen is Prof Khalid Yahya Blankinship

Re: Are there converts out there

I know that Ismailis actively try to convert from other religions. Though I never came across any such converts.

Re: Are there converts out there

Thanks Das.

P.S: In sight of Allah SWT, who knows if a Lehman's conversion is more dear to him or of a one that we know very well, so we can't say that its 1000 time better.

I find most of the converts, better Muslims than myself.

Re: Are there converts out there

^ Lol obviously. We were born into the religion, they searched for it.
