Are the Aussies really back?

I am not convinced at all by the performance of the aussies in this super series, i think they were exposed in the ashes, the world 11 wasnt really a test for them because when 2 teams play each other they plan for the other team and there is planning. the aussie media is projecting is as if the aussies are back and i am not convinvced i still think they are a 2 or 3 man team! warne, mcgrath, and gilli!! what do you guys think? r they back?

Re: Are the Aussies really back?

They have lost their steam, though they are still ahead of all teams but are not as 'invincibles' as before.

Re: Are the Aussies really back?

This series was a joke. Bangladesh could have made their record so much better had they played this world eleven.

Re: Are the Aussies really back?

Admit it guys. You just want Australia to lose and WANT to believe that they are going down! :D

Re: Are the Aussies really back?

They're has beens and they know it.

Re: Are the Aussies really back?

To me, Aussies were NEVER out of it, they had one bad series and everyone thought they are FINISHED mainly because people were sick of their dominance and wanted them to lose (including myself). They still have players like Brad Hodge, Michael Hussey (in TESTS), Haddin etc who can replace most of their players including Gilchrist. Untill McGrath and Warne retire, Australia will still be remain number 1.

I am not highly impresed by their upcoming bowlers though, they will definitely be affected a lot after World Cup 2007 because McGrath and Warne are not replaceable.

Re: Are the Aussies really back?

i dont write them off completely but as n e 1 who saw the ashes live on tv ball by ball can tell u outcome should have been 3-1 or something because england dominated aussies! aussies were sometimes perplexed! so they are still a very strong team, but the aura of invincibility is gone!! that fear factor is not there i guess! mcgrath, warne, and gilchrist will be really hard to replace!

:rotfl:

I don’t think they are invincible because they were never invincibles. They didn’t win WC '99 and '03 as a walk in the park. It was a difficult task for them, teams like Pakistan, England and New Zeland did gave them a good fight in '03. The reason of their success, I believe, is that they play a complete game and fight till the end. Right now rest of the world depends on key players like Inzi, Tendulkar etc to win their games not Aussies. The world is far away from beating them although teams like Pakistan and England can really make things difficult if they try.
