**My question: Are we allowed to have a tattoo in Islam? **
**One of my frnd & me we were planning to have one, but our Moms are tottaly against it… **
im just confused caz if we can have hina on then y not tattoo they r kinda same, except that tattoos r permanent
**So do share your views upon this…Thankxx 4 ur attention:) **
Tattoo is created by injecting the colour pigment into the skin. While henna/mehndi is just colouring over it. Moreover henna is temporary while tattoos are permanent. Permanency of them causes the invalidity of Wuzoo( وضو ) you do for prayers and also the invalidity of ghusal( غسل bath) when you have to do it obligatory.
religiously tattos r not allowed but even logically u go thru all that pain n get one.And when after few months/yrs u out grow it then go thru surgery again to remove it....its touturing fashion.
Alhamdulillah you changed your mind :) Here is just one of the ahadith I found on the subject:
"Allah's Apostle said, "Allah has cursed such a lady as lengthens (her or someone else's) hair artificially or gets it lengthened, and also a lady who tattoos (herself or someone else) or gets herself tattooed." Narrated by Ibn Umar, Sahih al-Bukhari 7.820
And why not, heres another:
"Allah's Apostle prohibited taking money for blood, the price of a dog, and the earnings of a slave girl by prostitution; he cursed her who tattoos and her who gets tattooed, the eater of Riba (usury), and the maker of pictures." --- Narrated by Aun bin Abu Juhaifa, Sahih al-Bukhari 3.440
There must be some other reason for prohibiting tattoos not the wuzoo, because ink is injected below the skin and while wuzoo you apply water over the skin not under.

With your references looks like it is not allowed for women to have tattoos, no mention of men. Are there any more references?
I want to know the reason tooo...I got scared out of getting a tatoo myself becuz my mother said dont get it ...you might get AIDS from their needle...I know illogical but my logic was Allah mian might give Gunah:) ..u never know..
