The trend I am seeing in my circle is that most guys/girls are taking care of their bodies, eating healthy and staying fit. Not every guy I know has 6 pack abs or every girl has a ‘thigh gap’ but overall everyone’s in control of their physical health. I think when girls are educated and financially dependent they look for a guy with a similar background but most girls I know would rather have someone whose caring, understanding, respectful, loyal and supportive as compared to having a stud that doesn’t have the above qualities. Good looks have nothing to do with being faithful. That comes from having good morals and upbringing. Girls are using their education and financial strength to get a guy that mans up and provides them the support they need to both build a complete and strong household and family together. Looks fade over time but ambition and hard work stays for life. If a guy can demonstrate that in his work ethic and how he carries himself (and that can include how well he carries himself physically to some degree) then that’s marriage material!

Why are we assuming that good looking guys can’t be caring and faithful. If upbringing is solely responsible for values then how come two brothers raised in the same house may have completely different values. My brother had made a similar comment about looks assuming that an average or below average girl will make a better wife and I totally disagree. I have seen some fairly homely girls who weren’t the greatest partners

Our reptilian brains are prewired to be attracted to good looking people. When I looked at the results of my son’s road race many guys in 60s beat many guys in 20s and 30s so people can maintain fitness at an old age also.
