Re: Are sayyads progeny/pedigree/bloodline/descendants of the Prophet SAW??
I mean....... like.....genetically are they connected to the prophet's family's bloodline??
Is there any objective evidence (gene analysis...like genetic markers typical of arabs) to suggest that......or its just hearsay?

1. i am talking about both sunni and shia sayyads.....so its NOT SECTARIAN..i don't want sunni shia debate.
- i am not referring to any religious/social implications........
First of all, in terms of genetics let's remember a couple of things. When they test for certain markers they only look at either your Y chromosome which you get from your dad, his dad, his dad, etc..and so on. Another thing they look at is Mitochondrial DNA which passes down directly from mothers to their children, so a daughter would have the same MTDNA as her mom, maternal grandma, great maternal grandma and so on . Men can't pass on their MTDNA to their children.
Now the prophet PBUH did not have any son's, so no one alive today would carry his Y chromosome. Further in terms of MTDNA for someone to have that they'd have to be directly related to the prophets daughters in an unbroken female line.
So with genetic testing you would really have a tough time disproving if anyone is related to the prophet, because they could just state that they carry his genes just not in terms of MTDNA or Y chromosome.
Having said all that.
All these people in Pakistan or India claiming they are descendents of the prophet, I am sure for the most part these claims are false. Likely people just made them up to give themselves a sense of importance. I am sure the prophet does have descendents, but they are in an around Arabia. I don't think they got on a horse and migrated thousands of miles east.
Sorry I just don't see it likely that someone from Bihar is related to the prophet. I don't believe these claims at all.
I don't have a problem believing that the royal Jordanian family are related to him, they have textual records and names to back up their claimes, plus in terms of their location it makes sense.
