It is fine to look at someone that way, I do it for Amir Khan or my husband, which ever picture gets in my way first.
But work has nothing to do with how you look (as far as beauty). A goodlooking slacker is a waste of money, an actual worker is a lifesaver whether ugly or beautiful. If I have applicants in front of me, I go for the one that checks out, who cares about looks when you put time and money into training someone and they aren't any good, just to have to do it again when you fire them.
I'm assuming that these people who say looks matter never actually had to hire, train, fire, hire again. Looks don't matter when hiring. Clean does, neat does, presentable does, beauty is nice but means nothing.
I think someone bullished about AMreeeeeeeKa being the only place where beauty is brought and sold. I hasten to remind the readers of this thread about the slight fact that we are desi.
As an Asian woman (read piece of meat) I'd rather my chances in the Amreekan corporate world than in the Pakistani cattle market (read rishta market).
Other than that the usual loser(s) have (has) made (an) in/adequate fool(s) of them(her/his)selves.
^ In the rishta process, looks are important. You have to be attracted to the person you marry; you don't want to marry an ugly person. Looks shouldn't be a factor in determining employment, unfortunately it is...
MQ, ur suggesting that people are infact ugly and thats why they are not hired? I think thats an insult in itself to those who are rejected based on looks...
personally, i dont think its to do with looks. Its the way you present yourself... an average looking person can look drop dead gorgeous by dressing and presenting themselves properly. And, that doesnt mean you have to wear a skirt and show cleavage..
Sara, dont listen to anyone... if ur insides tell you that ur looking good, others will believe it too.. its a confidence thing. It shows on the outside
^ Im suggesting that people are in fact ugly? Good Lord woman where did you manage to get that from eh? Read the thread over again. I said its utter bs when people are judged on their physical looks when they go in for a job. They should be hired regardless of how they look. Of course neat clean etc is a must, but it shouldnt matter what they were born with. Its in insult to think you cooked up an insult from my posts.
The rest who think its a funny thread - jee kar kay tashreef thread sai baher lay jhao. Shukriya.
Verizon - You did too!!!
Chan jee - akal dil ghal keetay ae.
Oh yeah if any other clowns wish to dig up from this thread what is not here, or wish to mock or put down anything here, get the heck out and do it elsewhere.
Faisal I am not denying that people who are seen as more attractive get hired while the the ones who are in their eyes not so good looking dont. Heck I pointed that out with my first post. Read again if you missed it. What Im harping about is that its utterly ridiculous. Its unfair. Why hold it against a person because they were born a certain way!
** people who are seen as more attractive get hired while the the ones who are in their eyes not so good looking dont**
In no way am I saying they are not attractive. Im not the boss rejecting people based on looks. I suggest you read what I said in my posts earlier. And no its not their fault they were born that way. Its not my fault I look the way I do. Allah made me, its how I look. If somebody has an issue with it, to hell with them. They are ‘seen’ as more or less attractive. Im not deciding who looks good and who doesnt, neither am I hiring them based on that.
Faisal - My friend got hired. The other female didnt. But why am I not surprised. I mean people can be low lifes. I think I should end it with that. The evil natures of humans.
A friend of mine called me the other day and a girl who had applied for a job at the same place as her - she did not get the job because she apparently was lacking something in the 'looks' department. <<
I doubt this is the official line. Your friend may have jumped to a conclusion.
Faisal trust me. It was looks. I dont wish to post any further details. She did not assume it out of the blue. If she had I wouldnt have been bothered by it. And obviously it happens more often than I had thought.
