Recently on present Government’s establishing contact with Israel hundreds of comments both in favor and against have come which debate is a healthy sign. Personally, having lived in Arab for 20 years, I believe since long we must had established contacts with Israel long ago. I am admirer of Begum Abida Hussain who as Pakistani Ambassador in USA as her personal view stated that Pakistan should recognize Israel which is a fact today. Now that General Pervaiz in line of his boldness and being a realistic person has made initial contact with Israel it has simultaneously come into knowledge of this nation that there had been some sorts of contacts dialogue with the Israel for the last 10-12 years. In interviews recently some ex Ministers etc have “very proudly” tried to convince the people that it was not General Musharraf who took this bold initiative rather during their tenure/rule these contacts were first time made. However each Government of the time during these 10-12 years always denned having ever any such a contact or attempt to contact. A question now becomes very serious that are we the people of Pakistan not right in never believing in our Government statements and blindly believing on BBC Urdu server? During my stay abroad I found that whenever our Minister or government stated there is no devaluation under consideration, even the illiterate labour class started stop sending money home taking the statement as guaranteed that devaluation definitely was happening. And after two or five days it actually happened.
