hm..i am not pakistani but..isnt what you said a bit rude and insulting..??well..i havent really met a lot of pakistani ppl but those i did were actually really nice and down to earth..so i dont know, maybe it depends on the person really. i dont think you can generalize..

I agree, East londoners are living in the stone ages. Most of them are aggressive and education is the last thing on their minds, Birmingham comes in at a close second.. I think Americans are pretty laid back and come accross as being the less cynical and approachable types.
Even so, generally Pakistanis are known to be the more snobbier types compared to other races/religions/ethnicities and bla di bla. Why do you think that is then?

No1 is really going into much detail here. I should’ve posted this thread up somewhere else alongside openminded ppl who wouldn’t get so defensive and take such a statement personally but rather to understand that the very few remarks I made are exactly the retaliation required of the so called stereotypes. I expected ppl to take such an opportunity to discuss pakistani cultures and ppl, the advatanges and disadvantages.

Hey K4plan, i’m from East London…i was born here and live here…
I don’t think we’re living in the “stone age” and education is a top priority amonst most pakistani families. Alot of young pakistanis from east london have excellent professional jobs and excellent education…it’s becoming the norm to have a Masters and PHD for us…most pakistanis don’t even view BA as an achievment in East London beacuse most people have one.

As for being aggressive i dont think it’s a major problem amongst pakistani people…yeah sure things happen but some take the view that these people are only trying to protect themselves…but honestly there isn’t anymore aaggression here compared to anywhere else.

I don’t know much about U.S pakistanis but believe me when i say the pakistanis here are no way “stuck up” or “snobbish”. lol

well stereotyping is just a way of having a laugh i think..... an of course there are good and bad in all different people... cultures, races are not the same as a person themself they only effect a persons attitude towards life not necessarily there personality... as for Pakistanies they don't cause such a big impression as what your saying...is this what ppl refer to as being 'reserved' ... anyway it's just opinions... because everybody's different and its hard to say that a group of ppl are something without knowning individual people...so going by stereotypes you can't generalise on the majority of people can you... as for upbringings ppl who appear as they are most of the time really can not be conciderd to be 'snoty'... yet there always are exceptions...

Isn't it great the way, it's possible to open a thread questioning and indirectly insulting Pakistanis, and not one person, Pak or not, calls for it's closure. Oh how it would be different if there were two extra words in the title..Indian & Anthropology!!
