Are democratic leaders accountable for their performance?

I’m very confused, honesty. There is a lot of commentary about threatening the political system, and challenging the leftist forces in the country, and maintaining the status quo – anything or anyone that advocates change is supposed to be some establishment backed force or simply out of sync with the political dynamics of Pakistan where only the plunderers can make it to the parliament.

It is disheartening because it is some well known journalists in the English press who’re towing this line. It would be easy to brush them all as being government backed or being funded by some political party but you rarely hear about the massive inflationary pressures, and other issues such as the breakdown in law and order that SCREAMS about the failure of the government and the political setup in general.

So are they advocating the continuation of a failed setup? PPP and PMLN are both equally responsible for all that is going on as there is no critique from PMLN and no effort or pressure on the govt to resolve issues. This is rarely a concern for the jounos, and it really makes you wonder…

Or I guess it’s just guilt for advocating a bad democracy that gave us this piece of crap after Musharraf was booted out by a massive media-led campaign.
