i was reading the comments on cnn. people are fighting over whether they are muslim or christian. so far they can’t tell from the names. 
in between some desi geniuses are doing the standard “anyone who kills does not believe in any god” stuff. :\

even if they are muslim. That doesnt necessarily mean that it was fueled by islam. It could be something else. But just a coincidence that theyre muslim.

Media has already thrown Islamist extremist & fundamentalist in the articles. Also, news channel keep repeating the words “muslim” and 'terrorist" when they mention the brothers.
Moreover, to add to this, the media also keeps referring back to their nationality where islamist extremists exists and have a troubled past.

They are ‘goray’ and Muslims. I am 99.9% sure Muslims are going to be held responsible for what went down.
From what I heard, the younger one has been here since he was 9-the older one 16. So you can say in a way this is home grown. Nothing off about both of them (good grades, lots of friends, etc) -except for the fact that both are Muslims. And over the past few years the older one became a much more ‘devote’ Muslim.
Those are the facts the media is spewing out right now…yeah we all know where this is headed.

They found a Russian language social website he posts on and he said he is a Muslim, mentioned Allah, and also had jokes on there with his brother (the one who had been killed last night) , so yeah unfortunately he is a Muslim.

Surely Wahhabism has been on the rise in Chechnya. It is possible that they got redicalized when they visited their native country.

As far as Chechens being goray, yes they obviously are. But some racist nazi nuts don’t take them as white. Actually some don’t even take Spanish and Greek as goray.

Their movement for independence was originally nationalistic, but al Qaeda made it the base just like in Afghanistan and Syria. This is one reason why most Chechens have turned to Wahhabism and don’t like secularism or sufism.
