Anyone doing any projects or hobbies with Arduino? If not we can setup a GS club and make some makeshift (jugari) list of things. What do you think?
Here’s what they say: “Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It’s intended for artists, designers, hobbyists, and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments.”
working on one right now... my first one actually. I'm using the Uno R3. realized today that I need another component before I can proceed with the rest of the project - will order it on SparkFun later today.
these don't need the expensive IDEs and toolflows that the average uC or fpga dev kits need. but otherwise these are a much simpler version of those. fpgas will most likely need hdl coding for anything serious, uC is less esoteric.
i'd personally go for a raspberry pi than an arduino kit, they are fairly old tech.
Oh yeah. I do stuff like this everyday. In fact I just built an LED dimmer that can be controlled by a mouse.
(Sorry, it just made me feel good to write that out. I have absolutely no idea what I am talking about though I did read that website with much interest.)
