Archeological Sites of Sindh

Contrary to popular belief that Sindh got only one building from Mughal era i.e. Shahjahani Masjid, Thatta… Here is older masjid from RohRi built during Akbar’s era (1588 AD)

This photo was taken on December 16, 1984 inside Jamia Masjid Akbari, Rohri. The mosque was built on the orders of Akbar the Great by his governor Abdur Rahim Khankhana in about 1588. This is thus among the oldest mosques in Pakistan. But the interior is now ruined. They have cement plastered the arch and it now has a shoddy wooden cupboard. Only the tiled floor remains as it was.

Re: Archeological Sites of Sindh

yes Rani Kot. Why such a big fort was built at that place (very near to G M Syed’s Sunn)? This Indus High way route remained an international route since centuries. Caravans from Mesopotamia, Hamdan, Qum , Kashan , Makran used to enter in Sindh and taking this route via Sehwan they went till Moen Jo Daro and onward.

Archeological sites in Pir Pattho (Thatta) related to Arab conquest.

Pir Pattho (Thatta District): Muhammad Bin Qasim Fort - Heritage Sites - .::UrbanPK::.

This masjid is named after the name of the Arab conqueror of Sindh, Muhammad Bin Qasim. It was built during the Mughal period. Situated on a ridge opposite Pir Patho, it is not dated, but its style dates to the late 17th century. Actually there are two mosques in a spacious courtyard measuring 180 feet east to west and 162 feet north to south. One of the two mosques is centrally situated, while the southern mosque was added later.
