Arabic makeup

since this thread is about makeup, does anyone know how to do arabic makeup?

I  arabic makeup, especially the eyeliner!!

So if anyone wants to share some tips, tutorials, pics etc…

one of my friends is iranian and she does beauuutiful eye make up, she told me how to do it but it never comes out the same. honestly her eye make up is so gorgeous in real life. she does really thick smokey eye liner at the bottom but mine always smudges after a while :(

I luv it as well!!! I use a regular super super black pencil liner to line my waterline (both the top and bottom), my top lid, and right below my bottom water line. I have not been able to find a darker eyeliner than a cheap brand called Milani. It’s better than MAC, Channel, Makeup4ever, etc. in my opinion. Then I seal the pencil liner with black liquid liner. I have been using urban decay and really luv how dark it is. I use the liquid on my waterlines as well …try not to blink right away so that it has the chance to dry. Extend the eyeliner on the corners to give it a bit of a cat eye. The double layer of black pencil and black liner makes it SUPER dark and makes your eyes really pop. Arabic eyes are all about liner. For everyday - just brush on a lot of mascara moving the wand in an upward slanted position as opposed to straight up.

For a more dramatic look, I use a small piece of sticky tape and place it on the edge corner of my lower eye having it extend upward along the cat eye I made. I use a shimmery lighter eyeshadow on my lid and as it get closer to edges, I have it get darker as it gets closer to the edge. When you remove the tape, you have a perfect cat eye made with shadow shading. I then use a little bit of shadow on the bottom of my eye as well -

It is kinda hard to explain! sorry!

Colored contacts make a big difference as well. Here are some pics of my eyes (and makeup)…and you can see that I like to experiment with my eyebrow shape too. lol

OMG, i love love love the 3rd picture from the bottom! U’ve got talent, girl! :k:

Yes it is hard to explain makeup looks in words but i get what you were saying.

I love Haifa Wehbe’s makeup too… her eyes, by the way, are not light in real. She uses contact lenses. The only reason arabic makeup suits light eyes more than dark eyes is because the thick dark eyeliner complements the light eyes.

The trick is really in the eyeliner and how perfectly you do it. And then ofcourse, they use lots of bright and shimmery colours on the eyelids.

When I went to pakistan last year, I saw quite alot of girls TRYING to do the arabic eyeliner (i’d say they were trying to copy Kareena Kapoor, she wears thick eyeliner too) but NONE of the girls got it right! The thick black eyeliner around their eyes made them look like Pandas!! :cb: So you can easily go wrong in doing the arabic look, thats why I’ve NEVER attempted it in public!

This brings me to one more question: DOES ANYONE KNOW IF ITS SAFE TO WEAR SURMA/KOHL? I heard Kohl/surma contains lead which is obviously not supposed to be anywhere near the eyes! But desi moms (including mine) put surma on new born babies, we always had surma on when we were younger and nothing happened to our eyes. So just wondering, is surma safe? If so, what brand should be used?

Arabic make up! Gorjus!! and Haifa Wehbe!

^^ My FAV one

PunjabiRose in post 3, your third picture up from the bottom is lovely :)

Huma the picture you posted up is very pretty indeed, good job :)

lol I was just scrolling through the forum and came across this.. I was like "hell, I'm getting old, losing my memory, WHEN did I start this thread??" Thanks mama ki dua, for making this a separate thread. It makes sense. Coz there's sooo much more we wanna discuss about arabic makeup.

nlove143, the pics u posted are amaaazing! I hadn't seen them before so its something new for me .. which is always great!

AnjanaSaDil, I am aware of all of these youtube makeup gurus that u mentioned. I would like you guys to check out an arabic makeup guru on youtube... not many people know of her because she does most of her vids in arabic. Her channel is something like Jenine makeup school, I think..

AmorAmor, thanks for the appreciation :)

Ladies, I would LOVE to do some tutorials myself and post up more pictures of arabic looks but this final year of college is going to drive me craaaazzzyyyy!!!!

I don't even have the time to do the basic "cleanse, tone, moisturise" routine, let alone practice arabic eye makeup! That's also the reason why I've been posting very few msgs for the last few days, college has started after the christmas holidays and this last semester is loaded with projects and reports n bla bla..

This weekend, however, if I get a good bit of work done on one of my projects, I will treat myself by taking some time out to do an arabic look and I will post up the pics Inshallah.
