A friend of mine visited me from UAE and while conversating he told me that pakistani’s wear shalwar Kameez and other types of clothing. I asked him if he wore the arabic long tunic, to which he replied yes, so I asked if he wore the rag on top of his head. Now this is where it gets interesting, he said foriegners are not allowed to wear the rag on their head (the one with the ring and without). He said ring one is worn by married arbi’s and the single arbi’s just wrap the rag around their heads.
So I asked how come foriegners are not allowed, and he just told me that it’s the law. Here he was telling me that how open UAE was and that there were babes in bikini’s on beaches etc, open boozing etc etc. But no rag for foriengers. I want to know from resident Arabic Paklinkers why such a stupid assinine law.
I like to dress up like local inhabitants, for instance I wear a skirt (tunic) when I go to scotland (just to blend in with the locals),I even wear a yamakah when I visit israel, it more to show respect towards the locals. I found this very bizarre.
Not that I'd ever want to wear an Arab gown or headscarf, Shalwar Kameez or western clothes are just fine. My friend wore Arab clothes on Eid and he looked like such a kutta kameena.
grumblepressup, you are a ridiculous and uncouth silly boy....
they all have different names because they are all different!
as for the Swimming trunks, there are many names for differnt types of swimming garments although I will not confuse you with what is what and which is witch because you clearly need to learn about kilts and skirts first.
I don't know where you are pulling this crap from. I have lived in the Middle East for 20 friggin years and have not heard of this law. My dad also wears that tunic to blend in with the local inhabitants and occasionally wears shalwar kameez as well. Some of the stuff that you wrote is really hillarious for instance single arabs wrap the scarf around their head while married ones wear the chord.
I met a Mexican at a convenient store. I asked him how long he had been living here in the States. He told me he had been here for 10 years. I asked him if he had been paying his taxes, to which he replied yes, so I asked him if he had a U.S citizenship. Now this is where it gets interesting, he said even though he had been paying hundreds of dollars in taxes every month, he had been abiding by the law he was still an illegal.
So I told him how come you are not allowed a legal status when you have donated thousands of dollars to IRS, he said that’s the law. He also told me that he is not the only one, there were millions of Mexicans from whose wages millions of dollars were being kept by IRS. And he also told me that the Government is very well aware of the growing Mexican population in U.S but they don’t want to do any thing about it. Instead the Government wants to steal hard earned money from poor Mexicans who are already working at minimum wage.
So I want to know from stupid gora wannabe desi why such an asinine law?
so illegal or not?? We are not discussing soemthing holy here guys only a fking Rag and that too on your heads. You know just because arabs wear something doesnt make it Islami.
I just found that to be a bit offensive and ridiculous, I personally like to see goras wear shalwar kameez in Pakistan. It's like hey this guy "respects our culture so he is wearing it" type deal.
If the host country wouldn't let me wear their traditional dresses, they shove the booze and their local prossy chicks up their ugly keeshters. I'd rather wear the local clothes get drunk and then do the arabs.... females that is.
You are not allowed to wear underwear underneath the skirt in Dubai either. There is special police equipped with X-Ray vision goggles on the lookout. It wasn't a serious problem before but now that we have bikini clad babes on the beaches it's difficult to be proper.
Are they hiring? I would nt mind working hte beach patrol. Check some real fat ugly hairy, date eating Arab FOGans for penance. That trip should qualify as to "go to hell and back"
