I’m currently planning my daughter’s aqeeqah party and I want it to be really fun and entertaining for all the adults and children who will be attending. There will be roughly 100 adults and about 20 kids (rest are babies). Anyway, since the party will be at a banquet hall, I need ideas for games or activities I can do in a hall setting. I have a few ideas and wanted to know if anyone has done something similar or just get your input in general. I was thinking of having a slideshow with pics of my baby with family, relatives, friends etc. We have a TON of pics that most people have not even seen…since I’m one of those moms that does not like to show my baby off on facebook or any online forum. I’m doing party favours for everyone and loot bags for the kids (in addition to party favours so kids get both). What else? I need ideas please and thanks!

I am not in favor of those candy filled bags for kids. Last month we got one at a birthday party and I decided to throw away all that crap candy. Getting a candy or two is different but a bag full…hell no! I would suggest you add colors, mini pads, crayons, stickers, erasers, sharpeners, etc in your loot bags.
Slide show is a great idea.

I wasn’t going to put candy or chocolate in the loot bags anyway. I plan to put fun little toys in there. I am making individualized loot bags for each kid. Different toys for different genders and age groups. I went to Party City and they have a ton of really cool toys for loot bags. Some of the kids are a bit older though so I am not sure what to put in their loot bags. Any suggestions for things I could give to the kids between 8 and 13? Young kids are easy…it is the older kids I am concerned about. I don’t want them opening their loot bag, rolling their eyes and then going back to play their iphone games! LOL…kids these days get bored so easily because all they want is their iphone games!

Then again, now that I think about it…all the kids age 2 and up are always on their iphone games. I need good ideas to keep these kids entertained. I want this to be the funnest, most entertaining aqiqah/first birthday party they have ever attended!

The 8-13 year olds will like the candy. You can get a magician or have face painting done.

Thanks for the suggestion. Does anyone have suggestions for decorations? I am not allowed to use streamers in the banquet hall but he said balloons are fine. What would I attach them too though? How do I make it look nice?

you must keep some arts n craft activity, painting,coloring for little kids.
balloon blowing contest
musical chairs
costume party/ fancy dress show
pass me the parcel
you can keep treasure hunt too and involve both adults and kids.

If you can extend your budget, I would suggest you hire a kid’s entertainer. That will really take off all the stress of arranging the games and activities and you’ll enjoy a lot more…I did that for my son’s first birthday and it was a big hit with the parents.
For decor, hire a balloon decorator or a party planner. I am not sure about your location but here’s one I know whose really good and you can even just get some ideas…
