Woh "easy-feel" karr jatay hein, shaid. :)

I agree with ehsan bhai. Sans the last test match, it was a pretty one-sided series. Windies barely avoided a white-wash. Lets see what they are able to accomplish in the ODI series now.

Even after loosing Shivnarine Chanderpaul earlier, west indies didnt loose hope and played their best. Omari Banks, the youngster was totally controlled and didn’t do anything silly:k:..
Test Cricket at its best…
Australia and West Indies are always having some matches which are quite exciting as in 1999 Brian Lara finished it off with a 4 in a crucial last wicket victory…

This victory will raise their hope for the coming ODI series:k:…

It was a one sided Test Series untill the last test and I think Ricky Ponting's absense made a difference. Full credit to WI though.

Anyways - I think ODIs are going to be cracking, WI is a good batting side and LARA is ANGRY. :)

the best display of test cricket , one could ever see…
great

:k: well done WI’s

hats off for Lara, Chanderpul and Sarwan.. and at the end for Banks and Drakes…
If LARA wouldnt have lost his temper, then I think the match would have finished with more excitement..

anyway good luck for the ODI’s

Lets c wut West Indies can do in Odi’s..
It will b fun watching Sarwan and McgratH:k:…

Aussie PM joins the debate as McGrath and Sarwan make up

So now the Australian Prime Minister thinks that what Mcgrath did on the field was a very ‘Australian’ thing to do  .

Aussie PM joins the debate as McGrath and Sarwan make up
Wisden CricInfo Staff - 14 May 2003

With the heat of the battle over, Glenn McGrath and Ramnaresh Sarwan have kissed and made up after their ugly confrontation in the fourth Test in Antigua. Speaking on an Australian radio station, Sarwan said he and McGrath had cleared the air over their mid-pitch altercation during the fourth day’s play, and insisted there were no hard feelings.

Sarwan, whose 105 helped steer the West Indies to a record-breaking win, would not reveal what was said between the two players in the heated clash which caused umpire David Shepherd to step in and cool things down.

Flashpoint: McGrath and Sarwan clash

However, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, McGrath was seen to say: “If you ever f—ing mention my wife again, I will f—ing rip your f—ing throat out.” But, rather confusingly, Sarwan had made no reference to McGrath’s wife, and McGrath was said to be embarrassed about his over-reaction.

That, however, cut no ice with Australia’s most famous cricket fan. The Prime Minister, John Howard - a self-confessed “cricket tragic” - waded into the debate during an interview with a Melbourne radio station, describing McGrath’s furious reaction as “a very Australian thing to do”.

While admitting he didn’t know the exact sequence of events, Howard said: “Well, I’ve read, I mean if somebody did say something about his wife then I would understand fully his reaction. There seems to be some debate as to who started [it] and who said what but anybody who says something about somebody’s wife who’s had cancer, that’s pretty bad and I can understand a man defending his wife. I would, I’m sure you would, and it’s a very natural Australian thing to do.”

Despite their war of words, Sarwan insisted they are now on friendly terms: “Both of us have apologised to each other and it’s good to know that both of us did that in the good context of the game, and what took place in the series and this game. It’s good to know that we have apologised to each other and appreciate each other’s friendship.”

When quizzed on the issue of the Australian’s reputation as the world leader in sledging, Sarwan played it down by saying, “I’m not sure about that, who’s the leader of that [sledging], but obviously players have things to say on the field and it’s up to the individual or a team if you want to take it personal but, really and truly, we don’t have a problem with each other.”

Steve Waugh attempted to play down the incident as well. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with exchanging a few words on the field. But we know it’s going to be replayed 10 or 20 times. It’s going to be seen over and over again and kids are going to see it as well.”

Referring to McGrath’s fury, Waugh said: “He [McGrath] probably misinterpreted it. Ramnaresh Sarwan hasn’t got a mean bone in his body. He’s a great guy. It’s a moment all the players regret, we wish it hadn’t happened but it did.”

Meanwhile, Mike Procter, the match referee, clarified that no action would be taken against the two players. “It got pretty serious out there for a time. Fortunately, Dave Shepherd stepped in at the right time.” Procter saw nothing wrong with Australia’s brand of aggression on the cricket field. “Australia has always played pretty tough cricket, I don’t think anyone wants them to change the way they play,” he said. “Sometimes, people like to knock the people at the top. They are a wonderful side and play in the spirit of the game.”

it was a great test match to witness, breath-taking batting by ramnaresh and shiv' with positive make or break innings by omari and vasbert.

i thought the whole series was great although the results didn't go in windies favour but nevertheless they were brilliant with the bat shame about the bowling in the 1st three test matches.

it was great to see even one of the worlds greatest bowler glenn mcgrath lose his cool under so much pressure. with so many owww's ans ahhh's, west indies pulled through and created history.

simply amazing

this picture is so similar to sajda, wouldn't u agree!!!!!

PT, It would be nice for once you actually post your own opinion than just the stuff from other sites.

Anways, this is history in the making, Windies chased a huge target and that too against the bowling side in the world.

I heard it was just a misunderstanding between McGrath and Sarwan.
McGrath thought Sarwan said something about his wife with cancer, but Sarwan actually didn't say anything, and both got into a heated arguement.

Anyone interessted in the 1st ODI WI vs. AUS today ??? if yes let me know i’ll post the URL …

First one-day is today:eek:…

Australia eager for revenge as one-day series kicks off](http://uk.cricinfo.com/link_to_database/ARCHIVE/CRICKET_NEWS/2003/MAY/182186_AUSINWI_16MAY2003.html)

After the euphoria of their epic and record-breaking victory in the fourth Test against Australia in Antigua, West Indies must now show some more of the same energy and enterprise in the one-day international series, starting in Jamaica on Saturday, or the Aussies will bring them back down to earth as fiercely as a Glenn McGrath tongue-lashing.

West Indies go into the seven-match series fielding a largely inexperienced squad, with an average age of just under 25. There are three players from outside the Test side: the World Cup duo of Ricardo Powell and Corey Collymore, and the uncapped Ryan Hurley, an offspinning allrounder from Barbados, but no Shivnarine Chanderpaul, whose brilliant hundred paved the way for Tuesday’s historic victory.

Chanderpaul fractured the middle finger on his left hand while taking to catch Adam Gilchrist during Australia’s first innings at St. John’s, and he will now miss the entire one-day series against Australia and, possibly, next month’s series against Sri Lanka as well. “The fracture was complex and required urgent surgery,” said Ricky Skerritt, the West Indies team manager. “The best medical opinion indicates that Shiv will be out of cricket for at least six weeks.”

Ridley Jacobs will also miss out. Saturday’s fixture would have been his 119th ODI, but he has been given more time to recover from the groin injury which caused him to miss the second and third Tests in Trinidad and Barbados. His place will be taken by Carlton Baugh, who stood in for him in those matches and is one of five new caps in the West Indian squad, the other four being Hurley, Dave Bernard, Devon Smith and Omari Banks – whose unbeaten 47 on the final day at Antigua was a performance of huge maturity that few other 20-year-olds could have emulated.

The mechanical Daren Ganga is not required, despite his twin centuries in the Test series, but Pedro Collins, who was dropped after the second Test in Trinidad, misses out as well – quite a fall from grace for a player who opened West Indies’s bowling in the first match of World Cup just three months ago.

For Australia though, it’s the same old faces, as they pull on their gold jerseys for the first time since their crushing World Cup win in Johannesburg. In come Michael Bevan, Andrew Symonds, Ian Harvey and Nathan Hauritz, while Stuart MacGill, Ashley Noffke and Martyn Love nip over to England for a spot of county cricket, and Steve Waugh and Justin Langer fly home.

Ricky Ponting will return to action as well, after shaking off that virus which caused him to miss the Antigua defeat. His last one-day innings – 140 not out from 121 balls – earned him the Man of the Match award in the World Cup final, and with centuries in each of his three Tests this series, West Indies need no reminder of his destructive capabilities.

To date, Australia have won 10, lost 12 and tied one of their 23 ODIs in the Caribbean, and last time round in 1998-99 the seven-match series ended all square at three-all. But since then, Australia have progressed right to the top of world cricket with two World Cup wins, while apart from a spirited but ultimately doomed World Cup campaign and a 3-2 series win in India last year, West Indies haven’t made the strides they would have wanted.

So as long as Brian Lara doesn’t single-handedly take the Aussies apart, and no-one on either side mentions Mrs McGrath, Australia should have no problems adding this series to their routine 3-1 Test win.

West Indies Brian Lara (capt), Ramnaresh Sarwan (v-capt), Omari Banks, Tino Best, David Bernard, Corey Collymore, Mervyn Dillon, Vasbert Drakes, Chris Gayle, Ryan Hurley, Carlton Baugh (wk), Jermaine Lawson, Marlon Samuels, Devon Smith.

Australia Ricky Ponting (capt), Adam Gilchrist (wk), Michael Bevan, Andy Bichel, Jason Gillespie, Nathan Hauritz, Ian Harvey, Matthew Hayden, Brad Hogg, Brett Lee, Darren Lehmann, Jimmy Maher, Michael Clarke, Glenn McGrath, Andrew Symonds.

Yeah, as I haven't posted my opinion in this thread.

Zero_One, are you showing the match?

Oh my God, i’ve never seen anything more stupid than the play done by Brian Lara, Gayles and Baugh.

Lehmann and Ponting go for a run, and the ball goes to Lara. Lara located in the middle, closer to Baugh throws to the bowlers end where Gayle is standing.. alright still a easy chance of a run out, but Gayle catches the ball and doesn’t make a attempt to run out Ponting, and just throws the ball at Baugh (Wicketkeeping). Baugh can’t hold onto the ball and there is No Run out!
Hilarious. The crowd just went in total shock and I could see lot of people getting really frustrated. :hehe:

Overall.. go Windies!! They are fielding really good apart from that mess up.

^ its all good. Aust. 186/5 in 40 overs. Not bad for WI.

271 to win for West Indies...
useful partnership in the end by bevan and harvey...
