Appy Geek

Funny name but I recently got this app. What it does is that it brings all the tech news sources into this one app. So you personalize your news channels based on your topics of interest and browse using their TagNav explorer. You can also set custom alerts, share articles on Twitter and FB.

I haven’t really set my personal preferences yet but this was one of the Editor’s picks at the Google Play Store which I visit frequently so I thought I’d give it a shot. I do have the FlipBoard app that I love which comes with the S3 and a few other such apps, but I thought I’d check this out.

Any experiences people?

Re: Appy Geek

Try Flipboard, its the best news reader app on any platform

Re: Appy Geek

^^ Yes, if you read my post carefully, I do mention that I have and love Flipboard :D

Re: Appy Geek

^^ My bad, i should have read the complete post before replying to it :(

and there is Google Currents too :) For me Flipboard serves almost everything, rarely uses anything else for news.

Re: Appy Geek

am not a appy geek…I have no idea why I did not get into this kind of stuff :bummer:

Re: Appy Geek

Aaliyah, you have no idea why you did NOT get into stuff like this?

Everyone doesn’t get into every kind of stuff. That’s why.

Re: Appy Geek

I use AppyGeek. It's pretty good.

Re: Appy Geek

Don’t worry not all of us are techy like Niki. I have a smart phone but I have soo much to discover still. :bummer:

Re: Appy Geek

:smack:

I’m techier than a few but please don’t embarass me…embrace me . Which reminds of something that happened with me a few weeks ago at LA Fitness:

So a few weeks ago, I was very eager to use the keyring app where you scan all the tiny cards that hang around your keyring and use those at stores instead of carrying a hefty keychain. So I walk into LA Fitness, pull out my S3, open the app, try to scan my LA F card. Try all positions, etc etc, the darn thing doesn’t scan. SO there’s this Punjabi Indian dude standing behind me watching. He comes close to me and says, “how embraaasing for you.” So Ms. Nikki turns to him and says “Twadey liye embraaasing hona, saddey liye toh nai.” And he is totally shocked and walks away in a hurry :D!

Re: Appy Geek

:rotfl: LOVE IT! and seriously don’t see how that’s embarrassing…or maybe I’m one of those people that don’t get embarrassed.

Re: Appy Geek

LOL, he was just trying to be a smarty pants :D

Re: Appy Geek

Didn't work with Ms Niki eh. ;)

So, did you end up figuring it out or no?

Re: Appy Geek

^^ It works fine in Rite Aid and a couple other stores. Tried at LA Fitness today again. I had gone after a few weeks but when I pulled my phone out, the people at the desk said, "oh it's the tech lady!" LOL. No, it didn't work.

Re: Appy Geek

Its a good application. I downloaded because of the same reason you did (editor's pick) and I instantly liked it. Very customizable and informative. But of course Flipboard is one app I love more.
