Apps for two year old

Re: Apps for two year old

You're doing a great job masha-Allah!
I'm sure that whatever choices you make will be in Adi's best interest.

I think the difference in what you are doing and what my sister/BIL have done is that you are isolating the device for educational tools. You are not "keeping him busy" with it. You are not turning to the device to "entertain" him while you catch a break. Some parents do that and that's where I think they go wrong and contribute to the creation of an addiction.

Re: Apps for two year old

Thanks so much Muzna . you have summarized it so beautifully. That is exactly what the purpose is and the best way to keep the child in the technology loop and also teaching them the real purpose of it.

Re: Apps for two year old

Like someone said before, kids imitate the parents, so this is really not something shocking to see or know a kid using tab/ cell phone. I have seen my kid atleast somehow benefited by using some mobile apps. I actually installed them for her to learn. Like I installed this kids prayers app which is animated and she likes playing it. It has lots of kids dua's of everyday and alhamdolillah she even learnt to say alhamdolillah after sneezing as the kid in the app does it. This wasnt something I had to teach her. She did it herself. There is another app also which has nasheeds in urdu English and arabic. She loves playing them too, and I was surprised the other day when I randomly asked her "Kis ne banaya pholo ko?" and she said, "Allah ne banaya pholo ko"... Well on its face value we just sang the song that was in the app but I loved it being a way having help her build her understanding.

CB, I am definitely going to send you the links to those apps. You may see for yourself if they are good for him.
