Appropriate attire for groom on nikah?

What’s more appropriate attire for a groom on Nikkah ceremony, shalwar-kameez or suit? hmm and the girl is wearing that gown-type shalwar kameez. It’s a Nikah only ceremony for the moment, I mean no rukhsati etc..

My fiance wore a nice creme coloured Junaid Jamshed shalwar suit, with a shawl going over his shoulders. (If thats what they're called) He looked great :) Shalwar suits are nice for Nikah for the groom. He gets to wear a suit any other time, because its his wedding, tell him to look a little different if he doesn't do kurta shalwars to often. Men look great in Pakistani clothing I find. And its simple to.

either is "appropriate." depends on his preference. i would prefer the silk shalwar kamiz over the suit.

I agree, I think it should be traditional wear (shalwar kameez). If it were Barat then I would have said Sherwani.

I have another question, does S/K look formal on it's own or should it be complimented with a 'patka' (shawl) or anything else to make it look a bit formal?

Ohh thats what their called eh?? I always say mens dupatta lol..oops..

Well I think with or without would be fine for a groom I would prefer with a patka. It might look to plain if he isn't wearing one.

I think it depends on the S/K, if its a nicely tailored kurta shalwar it would look nice on its own too. Plus you said its a small event so the groom can easily pull a simple S/K look.

He would still be wearing a phool ka haar so he would stand out. :)
