Appropriate age to introduce sex education?

Salaam…i am a little stuck…my son (who is aged 11) has just come home with a letter from school asking for consent to attend science classes relating to human reproduction.

Parents have the option of whether to allow their child to participate. Just wanted views from religious angle as to whether this is the appropriate age to introduce this topic.

I have never approached this topic with my son before and find it a little awkward. I personally would rather they left it till a little later but at the same time i dont want the rest of the class to be made aware of things that they will obviously then talk about and he feels isolated. Anyone has any advice?

There is a similar topic in the Parenting Forum, maybe that will help you

Get him married off immediately ....
People have figured it out (without any education) for thousands of years - i am sure he will learn as well :LB:

(I am just kidding, sorry I am not much help)

Re: Appropriate age to introduce sex education?

My parents opted me out. It wasn't a big deal. It's abstinence only education now so if you can teach your kid that on your own just leave it be.
