Applying to Universities in Toronto

I am in the process of applying for my masters. I have an advertising/media background from Pakistan and no work experience. It has been two years since I completed my under-grad. I am looking into applying to Ryerson for Journalism and for Professional Communication.

My questions are as follows:

  • How difficult is it getting into any of the above mentioned programs?
    -How many options of universities and/or programs should one have when applying to grad school?

Even though Im working on my personal statement these days along with references from old teachers, for some reason I am getting really nervous about the whole situation- what if I dont get in? It is really scaring me:( Should I be having more options?

Programs such as journalism or PR aren't extremely competitive so as long as you have a reasonably good statement of interest and portfolio, you should be okay. I would, however, suggest applying to at least two different programs in different universities - especially if you've decided that grad school is going to be your primary concern for the next year or two.
