Applying to Dentistry in Pakistan as a foreign student

Re: Applying to Dentistry in Pakistan as a foreign student

@uzzybuzzy-mubarak ho and its good to know that you opted for a uk uni. its not that pak unis are bad or the dentistry course isnot good. surely the education over there is very good. but there are other problems like if you had it from there then your degree wouldnot have been recognised here, education setup is diff comparing it to the fact that you are used to uk education system. i know someone who did pharmacy from pak and now here she si struggling to find the job as they say pass our test (which is difficult and expensive) so that we know you are compatible etc. so welldone inshallah you will go ahead.

Re: Applying to Dentistry in Pakistan as a foreign student

I’ve been waiting a long time to update this thread, but for all the doubters that thought I couldn’t do it, I did.

I’m now a dentist (from a UK uni) Alhamdulilah.

Never give up! Always follow your dreams.

Re: Applying to Dentistry in Pakistan as a foreign student

But in the UK dentistry is very competative and expensive. The issue i see is with getting a job with a degree from pakistan in the UK?

Re: Applying to Dentistry in Pakistan as a foreign student

U have to go through the ORE exam and then you are eligible to practice pvt dentistry. For NHS, you need to complete a VTbA (or VTE).

I would advise not going through the ore / vtba path unless you absolutely have to…

Re: Applying to Dentistry in Pakistan as a foreign student

Yes even after equivilancy exams which im guessing are harder to pass there is no guarentee that they will get a job.

Re: Applying to Dentistry in Pakistan as a foreign student

Yup.. My better half is doing a VTbA now. The exM was tough and getting a VTbA was 10 times tougher. She now works 250 miles away from home… VTbA positions are virtually extinct in the job market..

Re: Applying to Dentistry in Pakistan as a foreign student

At least she got a job thats still good. With experience in the UK hopefully more jobs will be available to her close to home.

Re: Applying to Dentistry in Pakistan as a foreign student

Yes. It’s more like unpaid training. But as you say, once it’s done.. Come next year, things will be better [emoji1]
