Applying makeup and smiling....tried and tested

So I apply concealer on my dark circles but when I smile there’s a line that’s created where the concealer is and I must have watched a lot of youtube videos about ways to prevent the concealer from creating lines but who’s going to remember to smooth it out every half hour.

Oh and I learned that with the colorstay lip color, since it’s 24 hour wear, biting the lips will definitely get that lip color on my teeth and I had an embarrassing situation of lipstick on my teeth sigh live and learn

Vaseline on the two front teeth can stop color transfer with normal lippy..

Re: Applying makeup and smiling....tried and tested

If swallowed in vaseline safe though? I'll google it.

Re: Applying makeup and smiling....tried and tested

^You just dab on the tiniest amount, not so much that you'd be able to actually swallow it :D

Re: Applying makeup and smiling....tried and tested

I'm also plagued about the concealer bit. My under eyes are a wrinkly mess and I'm in my 20s. Allah jaaney aagay kya ho ga. I do use both armani corrector, concealer and they're very thin so they don't crease as much but it's still not 100% effective. I just have to keep reminding myself not to smile.

Re: Applying makeup and smiling....tried and tested

Drink lots of water :P it decreases the dark circles under your eyes

Re: Applying makeup and smiling....tried and tested

Hmm...are you well-hydrated? Make sure you drink plenty of water. Use sunscreen; apply it 15-30 minutes before going outside.

Honey def makes a difference. It locks in moisture and softens lines. Apply it on face for 15-30 minutes and wash off...then moisturize. Oils...such as olive oil (and others) soften lines too.

Are you maybe squinting? That's something to look into. Or you can try using a satin pillow case which helps in preventing wrinkles.

Vaseline. People have used it under their eyes to prevent and diminish wrinkles. It's said that it causes skin to thicken over time which diminishes appearance of wrinkles.

Maybe you're overanalyzing. People do tend to get lines when they smile/laugh. If you don't have wrinkles when you're not smiling...you're fine. Your face won't be totally smooth when you smile/laugh.

Re: Applying makeup and smiling....tried and tested

Have you tried the Mac Moisture cover or Pro Longwear concealer?

Re: Applying makeup and smiling....tried and tested

I drink three liters of water every day and even more when I workout but come on since concealer is thicker than foundation it does need to be smoothed out. It's possible that I just have not beauty blended it enough but the tiny part of the beauty blender is not small enough for that section under the eyes close to the nose. I guess i'll keep watching youtube videos of people that have the same issue until I figure out something that works for me.

Yep most likely this is normal since I don't have lines when I don't smile. When I don't have foundation or concealer on I don't get the smile lines even when i'm smiling so maybe the concealer is just going on too thick, my application technique sux possibly and needs improvement but i'll try some of the suggestions with vaseline and honey

yippie i'll try it the next time I put my 24 hr lip color. thx

Re: Applying makeup and smiling....tried and tested

@redvelvet I drink so much water I'm practically a dam. And I've started using daily use of Argan oil on my face and neck and regular use of sunscreen at the beginning of the year but I feel like I'm getting worse. (like I had a sad moment when I realised I couldn't put my regular foundation under my eyes anymore) It's mostly genetics with both dark circles and super loose skin under my eyes. But I guess as I'm growing older my skin's elasticity is dying so more lines are inevitable. I am looking into eye creams and peels and what not so inshallah I hope I can reverse some of wrinkles.
@GlobalGal The best concealers I've used have been watery ones that are super pigmented and thinner than the foundation. I think those just melt into the skin better so they're less creasy. Although mine do crease but I actually don't need to to rub it anymore.

Ugh, I just took photos of my eye and it looks so much like a aliens have landed type of a picture. I'm not going to bother assaulting everyone with them.

Re: Applying makeup and smiling…tried and tested

GG, try this as well

Re: Applying makeup and smiling....tried and tested

I know this is a bit off topic but since there was talk on dark circles; a recent discovery I made at the MAC store was 2 things to vanish dark circles:

  • Mac's matchmaster concealer
  • Mac's prep and prime highlighter in peach lustre ** even though MAC released this as a highlighter, the makeup artist told me so many south asian women have been using it as a colour corrector for dark circles, she used it on me and I literally had no darkness or that grayish colour under my eyes. The colour is orange but once the concealer goes over it, it's exactly the same colour as the rest of your face.

She actually also told me that so many girls make the mistake of going way lighter under the eyes and this makes them have a weird grayish colour underneath.
This is actually the first time a corrector +concealer combo has made my dark circles vanish.

Re: Applying makeup and smiling…tried and tested

It’s 24 hour lip stick so it wouldn’t come off on my fingers( I have to use baby oil just to get it off) my problem is that I bite my lips so obviously the lipstick will end up on the bottom of my teeth since I just bit it off my lips. I do it out of habit which i’m hoping to stop soon since the result is too embarrassing.

Thanks i’ll try this method and see if it creases. I’m using laura mercier’s concealer in 37](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=37) and it tends to be too light but the next darker one is more pinkish and I have more yellowish undertones so i’m stuck.

Name me a few please that are watery but super pigmented. I must have tried close to 10 different concealers on the market already.

Re: Applying makeup and smiling…tried and tested

No problem, I actually have yellow undertones too so I think it’ll work for you. Definately give it a try.

Re: Applying makeup and smiling....tried and tested

Giorgio Armani Master Corrector //needs to go with all concealers you use. Expensive as hell but worth it.
Giorgio Armani High Precision Retouch
timeBalm® Concealer - theBalmMatch
rimmel Perfection Concealer //I used to love it but haven't used it for some time.
TOUCHE ÉCLAT - Radiant Touch - Yves Saint Laurent - not a concealer but a highlighter. Kind of distracts from my dark circles but making them glowy.

Do not use Bobbi Brown Corrector if creases are a problem

Re: Applying makeup and smiling....tried and tested

I just have to keep reminding myself not to smile.

Re: Applying makeup and smiling....tried and tested

Thx I'll get samples of these. I tried the lorac concealer one which is watery but it also disappears after a half hour so not very pigmented
