Applying for International Teaching Jobs

So, I sent an email to two different schools in Dubai, asking if I could visit whilst I am out there.

Both schools replied back to me within 24 hours.

One replied with a date and asked me what time I could visit.

The other replied saying I needed to send my CV and recent picture.

I sent my CV to both and recent pictrure and apologised for not sending it in my initial email (was actually being lazy and thought they wouldnt notice :bad: )

It’s been 48 hours since I sent my CV and picture and no response from either school.

When do I email them to check? I fly out on Sunday and sort of need to know if they will let me visit.

Also, did my picture scare them away? I tried to look professional, I even washed my face for the picture and everything :frowning:

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

:hehe: It is well known that they like gori chumri , they might be expecting a gori from your email , but your photo told them otherwise.

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

But I have a Pakistani name and my email address is my name.

No racism card.

P.S are you trying to say im not gori chitti looking? :/

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

I was just speculating as you are . who knows why they did not contact you. I had based my opinion on what I heard from others who have lived there for many many years.

PS: From the photograph they should be able to tell the difference between a desi mame and a gori mame.

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

Mirch, why can't you just say "it's ok Milly, don't worry, they are in awe of your application and picture that they are literally having to pick themselves off of the ground before they can reply back to you."

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

Awww, really? Thanks Mirch Uncle, you know exactly what to say! I feel better now.

So, when should I email them to remind them of my awesomeness?

Thursday is the end of their week, so email them tomorrow?

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

Well if they have asked ya for CV for teaching then i am sure they'll reply to ya. Best of wishes btw!. Also one of my female friend who also gotten offered to teach in US midwest. Their employer got back to her in a week. But ya should be fine insha'allah.

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

Don't worry you will be contacted, did you provide them your satellite phone number ? I guess you should contact them as often as you deem necessary , what you got to lose ?

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

Milly, have you considered any of the other Middle Eastern countries? I have an acquaintance teaching in Qatar for the last few years - if in that region, why not consider one of the other emirates or neighbouring countries?

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

It can't hurt to drop them another line saying that you are planning your time and would appreciate knowing in advance if your request for a visit will be accommodated.....

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

I emailed them again. I got an 'out of office' reply from one of them, so I sent an email to the address the 'out of office' reply gave me.

I hope I dont sound pushy, and I know I left it quite late, but still.

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

I don't think it's pushy......just trying to make best use of the time available on a trip. If presented that way then nobody can fault you.

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

Friday is a public holiday (I think) so may be they won't be able to get back to you before Saturday.

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

Tomorrow is Thursday, which is their Friday so they still have time to reply to me. I emailed them last Saturday night, so they got my emails first thing on Sunday, which is their Monday morning.

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

Do not fret over it , it is their loss if they do not want to take advantage of your talent. For next visit be more proactive and Inshallah you will achieve your goal of educating those jahils.

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

I sent my CV to an agency yesterday and she's sent me details of two schools which she said I could visit. Waiting for email.

Please pray for us!

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

I did pray for you . Ya Allah Milly key Dilly Murad poori kar day. Ameen.

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

Mirch uncle, pray harder, no emails :frowning:

I am very very roni shakal about it, cos I fly out on Sunday and if I dont have anything lined up…what a waste of a trip :sob:

Re: Applying for International Teaching Jobs

You were specifically going for a teaching assignment ? I thought visit of your purpose was different you just wanted to visit those schools while you were there for this other purpose . :konfused:
