Which apples are best to use for apple pie, in terms of texture, consistency and taste? My recipe calls for Granny Smith, but I dont want a very tart taste

Hey midnighteyes - How are you? Long time no hear! I would use cooking apples which are huge odd looking ones at the supermarket. Or i have also used normal Royal Gala or Pink lady but you have to use extra sugar to get the extra sweetness!

Do you get Braeburn apples. where you are? If so use them. They have a sweet/tart taste
