Apple Pie

I have some apples and want to make a pie from scratch - any recipes you guys could suggest?

Re: Apple Pie

Apple pie is best when made with Granny Smith apples…that is all I know. I wish I had a recipe to give.

Re: Apple Pie

depends what kind of apples you have - I’ve made apple crumble with cooking apples mixed with normal eating apples so you can try that.

Peel and chop the apples into small cubes. Put them in a pyrex dish, add a little hot but not boiling water to create a sauce, add brown sugar and cinnamon to taste. Then make the crumble:

rub together equal amounts of butter and sugar, then add equal amount of plain flour - the mixture should resemble fine breadcrumbs. I also like to take a little bit of the flour out and add porridge oats as that gives it a crunchy taste. Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apples, and bake in the oven. I sometimes sprinkle demerara sugar over the crumble mixture to give it a crunchy taste.

serve hot with warm custard, or with a scoop of ice cream. Yummy

Make a crumble instead it’s a lot easier. Cut up apples with a little water in pan. Add some honey n mash with a potato masher. Layer apple mixture in an oven proof dish n then layer with ready bought crumble mixture. This can b bought from many grocery stores. Put in oven and serve with custard or vanilla ice cream
