Re: apple i-phone
looks nice:D
Re: apple i-phone
I agree, this phone does look very slick. Too bad you’re still restricted to ITunes.
Check out this site where ppl actually came up with mock designs for the iphone:
Re: apple i-phone
It's interface is awesome! Great job Apple!
I don't like the price. $500?!!! Two year contract with Cingular?!!!
Re: apple i-phone
pricey. I will wait
Re: apple i-phone
its fab!
Re: apple i-phone
A wonderful gaget. Pearl is on run now. Here comes the apple flood.
Now wait for Microsoft's SmartPhone.
Re: apple i-phone
I have been looking into Nokia N95. Would like to try and test both before choosing one. Nonetheless, being an Apple user for the last 12 years, I think IPhone is definitely more tempting, but at the end it's all about the features, and richness of installed software..
Re: apple i-phone
Here are a few more cons:
- No 3G. We know you know, but still, it hurts man.
- No over the air iTunes Store downloads or WiFi syncing to your host machine.
- No expandable memory.
- No removable battery.
- No Exchange or Office support
Total turnoff.
Re: apple i-phone
iphone is no threat to blackberry.. since the corporate world is too comfortable with blackberry and virtual keyboard doesnt' really make it easy to type those long emails.. secondly as TofiBaba mentioned no support for exchange and office is a big turnoff for corporates..
Re: apple i-phone
iPhone is a wonderfully executed device. By the looks of it, ofcourse. Only time will tell if the so-called "multi-touch" is the miracle cure of all that ails current lot of Smartphones. Or whether the screen is really all that great. Or whether OS X (Mini) on a cellphone is really such a bright idea.
Things I like are the form factor, glorious screen, WiFi support and extremely cool user interface.
Things i don't like are price (duh!), no 3G and being locked to Cingular (not a big issue for me as I am with Cingular right now).
Arguably price is the biggest issue. Yeah, so the "coolness" and "wow" factor commands some premium, but $500??? A 4 GB Nano can be had for, say $149 or $199. A phone with 2 year contract should add may be another $100. But here we are asked to pay an additional $200 premium. Way too much.
Again, the whole approach is a bit of an oxymoron. The phone won't work for business users because it lacks secure push email (and trust me, once you are used to Blackberry's push email, nothing else comes close); and coincidently its the business users who are most likely to pay a $500 price tag. A normal consumer, used to getting his/her cellphone for free or for $29.99 is loath to pay more than a hundred bucks, is now being asked to shell out $500 and get stuck to Cingular, just to get this "wow" device in his/her hands. Will it fly? I don't know. Personally, I'd rather buy X-Box 360 and Wii (both) for the same amount of money.
The other thing is that from now until June (when iPhone will finally be out), I guess sales of iPod Nano/Video will grind to a slow trickle. No one will want to shell out $350 for a Video iPod now, if they see a wide screen iPod, albeit mighty expensive, in the horizon.
From Apple's side, this can be a fantastic trojan to get OS X in 10 million US households.
Re: apple i-phone
dunno if it’ll be called iPhone for much longer ![]()
Re: apple i-phone
I am not sure what can you really run on the iPhone version of OSX. Apart from mini versions of iCal, iPhoto, Safari etc, there doesn’t seem to be much else. I would really like to open up MS Office attachments, to say the least. Also, If you compare iPhone v Nokia N95, the latter seems to offer a lot more features for your $$, such as GPS, a better camera, and also has WIFI support. But, then again, N95 software may not offer the richness of the OSX..
Re: apple i-phone
^ Dunno about that. I never worked with OS X and kinda stay away from Nokia. However with $500 price tag, iPhone (assuming its still called that by the time it actually comes out), will only be bought by those who sacrifice "value for money" over "cool" factor (or are die hard Apply fanboys). And obviously they have to have that kinda money to spend on a cellphone+music player.
Having said that, I don't doubt that Apple will be able to sell all the iPhones it can produce, and will soon come out with a slimmed down (translation: cheaper - think 'Shuffle') version of this phone very soon.
Re: apple i-phone
I beleive you can use the APPLE skin on S60 capable phones (for example NOkia n95) and makeit just like that.
Why bother customizing?
N95 has 5mp camera and other features better that iPhone.
You can NOT install more software on Apple
Nokia is in the field for years and years - this is apple first phone - bound to be buggy :)
Re: apple i-phone
looks cool and i think apple will get this straight hit as its not focused on coroprate world , its focused on youth and gadget markets who love music with a nice interface. for corporate, smartphones ie P990i and N95 and the BLACKBErry will stay on top.
Micrsoft will not launch its own phone as it already experimented with Windows Mobiles on primarily on HTC hong kong handsets marketted with different names i mate jam, and other funny names.
Re: apple i-phone
rubbish phone :o
Its just the design and thats it, nothing other phones dont have :D
Re: apple i-phone
agreed with later comment, Its just the design!! that what they are good at. also agree no new features are added, they certainly made it simple and attractive unlike blackBerry
