Appetizing v Non Appetizing

All these appetizing food pictures from some of teh finest cooks of gupshup have had me drooling. I seldom cook at home, as I don’t have lots of time on weekdays, and for some reason I think cooking is just too tedious and time consuming. Unless it’s a weekend, then I really like to make some pancakes with honey, cream cheese and freshly sliced oranges mmmmmm, or make an evening dinner. If I really have to make something on weekdays, then I would fix myself a quick veggie sandwich with some soup and crackers or throw a pizza in the oven.

I often eat from outside, and sometimes as you are headed to get something, you just don’t know what to get, or what to eat, and you are going through the list in your mind, and still can’t reach a conclusion. Even eating from outside gets boring, and we don’t have any decent desi restaurants close by where you can pick up something appetizing such as naan-kebabs or something similar. Am i the only one or there are others like me..

I think one should always make an effort to eat a well-balanced meal. I understand cooking isn’t always do-able but u should always try and make the best with everything that’s available to you.
It’s so easy to make a delicious sandwich in the morning(to take with u for lunch), just use ur imagination and experiment. It’s so much better than the boring cheese sandwich or any other ‘quick’ bite.

I think many of us don’t bother to have fruit every day (very important) or fresh vegetables (no canned stuff :nono: )
Eating/cooking is love/passion/relaxation

(ok someone shut me up please :o )

Well, I eat well balanced food with veggies, fruits, and proteins. But, my timings are really messed up and in the mornings, I usually have enough time just to have some fruit and a glass of milk. Lunch is always outside, and by the time i get home which is usually late in the evenings, I go for a workout, and then when you come back, there are umpteen other things to take care of such as more work from home :D and just thought of making a dinner seems such a huge task, so you always get away with something quick and easy..

Sometimes, I hook up with a friend and we cook dinner together at his place. Usuallly, his wife does all the prep work while we are working out, and then we just come cook and have dinner together. Apart from that, I just don't know where my time goes when it comes to cooking..

:k: Ever since I’ve learned of the pyramid, the information has become so important to me that I feel like a meal is incomplete if it is not balanced. I do not balance my meals, its simply a wish that I do.

there were days when i used to eat stuff from outside..and yeah, it does get boring..but then i realized that i can save my money by cooking at home..also i thought it would be healthier and the food would contain less preservatives and colors..

cooking doesn't always have to be time consuming..you can do so many things..if you think that you don't have time on weekdays..you can always cook one or two things in a large quantity over the weekend..

lets say you are working on computer..you can still cook rice and daal on a medium heat..or even khichri or vegetable rice or pulao..for chow mein..you can get easy boil noodles..you can stir fry the noodles with mix coleslaw/vegetable salad for a quick meal..

how about keeping some daal/kidney beans/vegetable tins for a quick desi style curry...

if you think basmati rice takes longer time to cook..get the parboil rice for quick meals..

you can make quick chapli kabab..kachay qeemay kay kabab or seekh kabab even or weekdays..and can eat them with pita and a quick raita..

believe me...lots of things can be cooked fast..
