OK so I am having an iftari dinner at my place tomorrow night. My cousins are coming over, as well as my family. It will be a total of 15 adults and 9 kids, most under the age of 3. Please give me some Iftari/Appetizer ideas for the Iftari portion. For dinner I am just having some rice, Chicken Karahi & Palak Gosht with salad/chutney and possibly kebabs or roasted chicken.
Please tell me some ideas for appetizers that are easy but simple, something that says wow…hmm..
help me please****
otherwise it will just be kajoor, pakora & fruit chaat…which is so plain jane…samjay…
now… HELP****
and no samosas please
Oooh and dessert idea too. Should I even do a dessert in an iftari? All I can think of Pineapple Lush…
basically crushed pineapple mixed with Cool Whip & pudding mix, then layered between pound cake…???
Appetisers - kebabs in mini pitta bread maybe - lamb or chicken? tortilla chips topped with tomato sauce & grilled chicken bites and cheese, southern fried chicken, various other types of pakoreh (fish, bread, potato etc).
I have done iftar now so that is all I can think of... bet if I'd seen this thread before eating I'd have been able to give you a better list lol
you can make keema patties with puff pastry ...they turn out pretty good, dahi baray, spring rolls, or some sort of tikkas with assorted veges on skewers....
For appetizers go for fruit chaat, chana chaat or dahi baray, which ever is easy for you, pakoras , you can make some different kind of pakoras, like chinese, chicken, mix veggie, etc. and spring rolls.
for giving different effect to your food you can make fruit chaat with different alterations discussed in fruit chaat topic, same with pakoras...
I usually make chicken cheese balls, in boiled chicken add mashed potatoes, cilantro, green chillies, shredded cheddar cheese, corn flour, red chili powder, salt n black pepper, mix well n make balls, coat in egg then in breadcrumbs n deep fry them.
Or go for potato rolls with chicken or minced meat filling. mash boiled potatoes n season it just as you with cutlets n for filling take cooked minced meat or boneless chicken n make rolls of potao mixture filling them with meat or chicken n the ncoat them with egg n breadcrumbs n fry them.
Both these recipes are really delicious.
Brilliant ideas here .. for the kiddies , just make some fries and chicken potato balls .. and another super easy recipe is potato cutlets ... thinly slice peeled potates , mix some gramflour , sprinkle in salt and black pepper and a touch of garlic ... dip potato in it and fry. that should be enough for the bacha party
For the adults :
Pakoray
Dahi Baray & Channa chat
fruit chat
Kababs or Bread rolls ( I think BBQ gave us a good recipe , its in the sticky threads called Ramadan recipe of the day )
I think that should be enough for iftar , followed by dinner and then dessert.
