Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

The death penalty for apostasy is also found in the Judeo-Christian Bible because Judaism was once a valid religion from God in the day when the Torah was still unadulterated from the tampering of some Rabbis, since then a lot has been changed of the Judeo-Christian Bible (sometimes even before it was put to paper) by selfish priests and rabbis to suit what some peoples itching ears wanted to hear (rather than what God had commanded), so much so that it was no longer a medium of salvation, but despite this some concepts still survives intact and that is the reason why many Biblical laws bare resemblance to Islamic ones because the God who revealed/inspired the original Holy Torah is the same Yahweh/HaShem who put His Word into the mouth of His servant, the unlettered Prophet Mahmad (peace and blessings of God be upon him) from the Ishmaelites, the brethren tribe of the Israelites.

**Deuteronomy **13: 6-10

If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which [is] as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; [Namely], of the gods of the people which [are] round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the [one] end of the earth even unto the [other] end of the earth; Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

Leviticus 24: 10-16

“There was a man whose father was an Egyptian and whose mother was an Israelite, named Shelomith the daughter of Dibri from the tribe of Dan, there in the Camp this man quarrelled with an Israelite, during the quarrel he cursed God, so they took him to Moses, put him under gurad - and wait for the Lord to tell them what to do with him; the Lord said to Moses, tell the people of Israel that anyone who curses God must suffer the consequences and be stoned to death.”

1 King 21:10

“And make two men who are good for nothing follows sit in front of him and saying you have cursed God the King. And bring him out and stone him to death.”

Deuteronomy 17: 2-7

“If any one, whether man or woman, in any village through out your land violates your covenant with God by worshipping other god’s, the sun, moon or stars - which I have strictly forbidden - first check the rumour very carefully, if there is no doubt it is true, then that man or woman shall be taken outside the city and shall be stone to death. However put a man to death on the testimony of only one witness there must be two or three witness, the witness shall throw the first stones, and then all the people shall joint in this way you will purge all evil from among you.”

Now in Islam people who are born into non-Muslim households are given the choice to live as a Kaafir or embrace the true religion but the Christian Bible claims that Jesus :as: is reported to have said regarding those who did not convert to Christianity:

Luke 19:27

But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to reign over them–bring them here and slaughter them in my presence!

Thank you for sharing the verses.

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

^^ So how many muslim covertees have been lynched / hung / whipped in the Western countries?

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

How many Jews or Christians are there running around calling for beheadings for people converting? I suspect you can, in the various religious scriptures, find a justification for everything. However, a civilized society respects personal choice.

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

When those countries make their constitution based on their scriptures they'll do that :p

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

Civilized: definition of which changes with almost every century.... Your scale is so unstable, tsk tsk.

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

I don't know what century you are in, but the one I am in...there is only one religion that demands death for apostasy.

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

I agree with soomri here, countries like the US etc have a large number of converts to Islam and they until they are killed for converting, we shouldnt point fingers (just to drive people's attention away from taht incident in afghanistan)

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

Religion is what its scripture says it is, not only the bits which its so-called followers choose to follow. I once read somewhere "judge a religion by its scripture not its followers" and I think that can apply here.

I’ve opened this thread to tell people what Christianity and Judaism have to say about the matter, not to discuss whether those who claim to be Jewish and Christian give any value to their religions or not.

Some Jews and Christians may not give enough importance to the rules found in their scriptures but that doesn’t mean those rules are not a part of their religion, their ‘pick and choose’ attitude just shows that they are hypocrites because on one hand they say they believe their scripture to be divinely inspired and then on the other they condemn and oppose what it says, they must think they know better than God or something.

No this thread was not an attempt to divert attention from the Afghan convert issue, because unlike the ones who earned God’s wrath and those that went astray I am not ashamed of His sacred Law or too self-righteous and proud to submit to it. I do believe it was a good job the Afghan dude wasn't executed but only because looking at his pictures is enough to show there's really something mentally wrong with him.

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

Well said Faruk
Every religion has scripture that recommends such punishments for apostates. Its a fact.

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

For all that matetrs no judeo-christian have legislation to that death penalty efefct anywhere but same can't be said for majority of shariah states

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

There is neccessarily a difference between religion and politics

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

nope pal I am talking abour shariah states whose rules are based on quranic edicts and moreover don't u guys keep harping islam is not religion it's way of life and it involves everything in islamic states, so why be defensive when faced with embarrassing situation........

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

nope it's nature of abrahmic religion only , even among them thankfully the other two have evolved and don't have legislation to this effect

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

hindusim buddhism jainism sikhism doesn;t even deal with matters of apostates that's how religion should be.. it's matter of faith and faith should come from inside not forced on people under death threat

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

If it’s evolving on the basis of man’s perception of what is right and what is wrong, then it must not be much of a religion, would it…

If a religion’s edict forbid homosexuality and its adherents accept homosexuality, then it must be a pretty cheap religion to be swayed by popular opinion…

A religion means that its adherents follow the laws set forth in their respective religions…If the adherents themselves allow that religion to change or wish to bring change in the religion and they succeed, then it ceases to be much of a religion, doesn’t it…

Re: Apostasy and the Judeo-Christian Bible

Why’s it an embarrassing situation? Look pal we couldn’t care less what some Madhu Prasad Lallu from Chatna Patna thinks of us or our religion. I’m not a Hindu I’m a Muslim so therefore I’ve enough of a backbone to stand up for what I believe and I’ve absolutely no shame in saying that I believe apostates from Islam should be executed, there’s nothing wrong with that.

No of course not, Hindus are a civilised people (sarcasm), they only kill a whole family when a Christian decides to have some beef for dinner, or when a woman is widowed and needs burning alive or when Kali Mata (Dark Mother) demands the sacrifice of a low caste child, or when a Gujarati Muslim woman needs her baby ripped out of her womb or when a Kashmiri Muslim woman needs raping and then slaughtering afterwards.

Hindus don't even know what their religion is or what to believe and what not to believe.
