Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

Why this got negative tag in our culture to marry a girl who is half of your age.

I mean this was followed in all cultures and countries just a century ago.

Has this made female life easier across the world?

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

cultural effect. not a religion requirement.
consider in society if husband is older, he would be more mature and able to take care of his family in terms of financial as well. But if we see example of our Prophet (PBUH), then our existing practice are worthless.

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

But how does it changed culturally? As this was pretty common in almost all cultures across the world.

Regarding Arabs, if I remember correctly there was a formula for bride's age followed in Arab society. Groom's age / 2 + 9.

But again, society was not hostile towards marriages where this was not followed.

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

one reason often I heard is “mard jaldi buddha nahi hota” so female should be married in young age wd an experienced n mature man. :bummer:

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

Maybe this generation, as now people want there to be understanding between husband and wife. Say a person of 26 years wants to marry, a girl half her age would be 12-13 which seems very small these days.

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

Everything is against sunnah n quran..so the result is...may Allah guide us Ameen...following culture lead to the destraction of society..what if simply the deen is followed...

making life hard by staying away from quran n sunnah...no peace from home to world...we youth has to think at least about it..n start making difference..may Allah give us strength..Ameen..

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

Matlab?

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

How come age difference bound people in daughter-father relationship?

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

Dekhnay main to yehi lagay ga....

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

Not necessarily. If by appearance, it looks like that does that mean we got enough reasoning to make things Haram which were made Halaal by Allah.

Apart from religion, why all cultures didn't raise voice against this practice, if that was a cruel practice at all?

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

How come this practice can be cruel?

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

That is my question, it seems that human rights torch bearer consider this as one of the biggest cruelty against women

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

They raise question when teenager girl got married to 80 years old man.....

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

so you think that our society appreciates marriage between 50 years old man and 25 years old girl?

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

If it is not forced marriage... people will be making ha ho... gossips.....

Re: Apne se aadhi umr ki LaRki!

Ideas and movements like Women's Rights, female education and child protection are all modern 20th century phenomenas, hence very little record of opposition is found for such unions in previous centuries. It's just like child molestation, it's been taking place for ages and ages yet only in recent time we saw this horrendous act equalling a serious top degree criminal offence.

I believe nympholepsy was simply quite widespread and accepted in old patriarchal societies, slightly more so in Eastern cultures.

As with why people act funny when they see a beautiful 30 year old with all grey and wrinkled 60 year old man, well evolutionary psychologists would say it's got something to do with humans finding someone attractive based on their fertility potential, and that's very true. It's not usual to see people making all sorts of sexual jokes when they see an old man with a young female.

I am supposed to be feeling really really sleepy right now but look what kind of discussions I am taking part in. Forgive me guys for not making much sense.
