First infighting and recrimination in the ARD and MMA, and now the new “APDM” alliance can’t even get off the ground. Totally rudderless and disunited opposition.

APDM drive against govt from Aug 9 cancelled
The plan of newly formed All Parties Democratic Movement(APDM) for kicking off the countrywide campaign against govt from August 9 from the provincial capital of Quetta was cancelled due to absence of the host parties leadership and new date will be announced later. This was announced by Maulana Muhammad Khan Sheerani, MMA member of NA and Provincial Amir of Jamiat-i-Ulema Islam(Fazl) while addressing a Press conference here in MPA hostel on Thursday. The provincial Ministers of the party Maulana Abdul Wasey, Maulvi Attaullah, Abdul Wahid Siddiqi, Senators Rahmatullah advocate and Dr. Ismail Buladi and former Minister Hafiz Hamdullah were also present on the occasion. He said that the leaders of Opposition parties decided to launch anti-govt drive from Quetta from August 9 next, but Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the head of Pashtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party and Asfandyar Wali Khan, the head of Awami National Party contacted Maulana Fazlur Rahman and requested for postponement of Quetta protest drive because of their absence in the country. He said that both the nationalist leaders infact were going to attend a jirga in Kabul.
He said that next date for holding the same public meeting would be decided after consultation with the allied parties. To a question, Maulana Sheerani said that a good alliance could be formed in Balochistan between Maulvis and nationalists. He said that both of them should take the decisions after taking in view the interest of people by keeping themselves above personal interests. When asked about MMA Ministers resignation from PML(Q)-led ruling coalition in Balochistan, he said that he and party leaders have clarified time and again that the resignation of MMA would make no difference in national politics. He said that when all the parties decided to do so, the Jamiat members would obey the decision without wasting a single minute. He said that Jamiat Ministers have already tendered their resignation in the light of party’s directions in the past. When asked about Taliban, he said that it was the internal matter of Afghanistan and he was unable to comment in this regard. He said that Jamiat Ministers would table Shariat Bill in the next Assembly session. He said that different laws were applicable in different areas of Balochistan and first we had to tackle those issues.
