Digitalsurgeon: It is a water canon salute. Water canon salutes come from welcoming ceremonies on ports where ships fire off thier water canons. In he case of the airlines industry Water canon salutes are given to commemorate an occasion or to welcome a new aircraft. For example G-BOAG the last British Airways concorde to arrive from London to JFK was greeted with a water canon salute or when Airfrance celebrated the 50th anniversary of its flights to Chicago last year, theri planes were also given water canon salutes. and the inflight trivia challenge was an instant hit
two of my friends whose dads r in PIA were saying that just because of internal politics and inefficiency of PIA higher ups, instead of waiting a few months and acquiring the planes brand new, PIA had to buy these planes second hand at extra cost...i'm not sure if they were talking abt these exact planes...

Irem, all 777 are purchased brand NEW. None of them is used. The internal politics was to buy 777, because for PIA it would be better if they would have bought Airbus 340-500 or 340-600.
If you compare the above mentioned models of airbus with 777 u will see the difference & there is a clear difference in the price as well as the technology. PIA has airbus technology available at home but now they have to buy the maintenance machinary for 777 engines & that is an expense on top of the price they'r paying for 777s.
In my opinion if PIA had to buy the boeings then why 777s? why not 747-400s?

Looks like cleaning the snow to me. I used to travel alot for my job and I saw them do it all the time for domestic flights in winter times.
That would be de-icing of wings and tail and this is certainly not it. It is a water cannon salute.
Well certainly beats breaking a bottle of rum at the nose.
