Re: Anyone watch Cosmos?
Maybe your kid can post what caught her attention after watching a show. Not as an assignment. But as something that stood out. She can maintain a word doc where new entries r made. And mom copies and pastes it here. This way kid doesn't have to be participating member.
That's not a bad idea! I like it.
I'm not sure that this is a good time since she is swamped with school projects but I will definitely ask her to do this going forward in July.....
It would be interesting to see from her perspective.
Re: Anyone watch Cosmos?
Look forward to it. Hope her school projects go well.
Re: Anyone watch Cosmos?
one thing very interesting to learn in the last episode was America Space program and lunar mission. According to the host of the show, USA sending rockets to moon was less about exploring space, and more about showing USSR how well USA can aim tiny targets (in this case, moon) that are thousands and thousands of miles away. A kind of silent threat if you may
Re: Anyone watch Cosmos?
Wow , so they are right in saying there is always a military significance in every thing America does ![]()
Re: Anyone watch Cosmos?
It's always about holding the supremacy chair. You can't do that if you don't keep reminding others how powerful and capable you are. :D
This Sunday is going to be the last episode :(
Re: Anyone watch Cosmos?
Interesting but quite often depressing! I watched the old one during late eighties on PTV by Carl Sagan.
Re: Anyone watch Cosmos?
it used to come on ptv?? amazing.
that's the kind of government funding we need today, tlk
i think i will have a cosmos marathon once it ends
Re: Anyone watch Cosmos?

Didn't you know this before? I am surprised. The whole story behind Apollo missions is very interesting. Americans felt more motivated after the Russians launched Sputnik in 1957. They weren't too happy about losing the spotlight. I wonder if the funding for Apollo mission would have ever been approved had it not been for Russians launching the first satellite ever.

I knew the rivalry part, but I did not know that (because nuclear war heads are attached to a rocket) it had a weapon threat angle to that. What american were implying in a subtle way that hey dude USSR, if we can target moon from so fa away, we can definitely target Kremlin without any issue.
Re: Anyone watch Cosmos?
will work on it dude ![]()

Didn't Hiroshima and Nagasaki send that message to the Russians and everyone else? I see your point though but I thought it was more about regaining the spotlight and winning the popularity contest.

For Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they had to fly the planes to that city to drop the bomb. This is like saying that wet can send a rocket with a nuclear warhead to you from Houston
^ at least that is what I got. Once you reach that episode, please do let me know if I got that right
Why was it depressing?

Like the sakarams in Hindi movies, the conflict resolution team makes its appearance.
