Anyone using Open Office?

I have been hearing very good reviews regarding open office in that it is Free and provides all features of Word, Excel, Powerpoint and is compatible with them as well.

I want to buy a cheap computer in the future and am thinking of just using open office instead of Microsoft Office suite.

Anyone have any experience with open office?

I am using Open Office and I'm happy with it. It's a bit slower in opening up than the regular MS Office though.

I have been using it for over hmmmm 7-8 years now.
I think it was called sun office before.

Never needed that MS thingie.

I installed it 5-6 years ago. .when it was known as Star Office, .. but it was slow.. and sucks. Then after moving into IT career, where Ms Office is standard, specially in corporate where Exchange, Sharepoint, Biztalk came in. Outlook & MS Office is the must. Call it Microsoft monopoly or else.. that's how it is.

Its pretty good. Well I've only used the Word, not Powerpoint and stuff, but yeah not too bad.

I used to use MS Office from the time i learnt to use computers…now they are forcing us to use Open Office in office…Its a bit slow, most if not all the features are there:(

But the Excel na, the macro feature is a bit toooo too sad for me. And the formatting of pics, table formatting in the word is so so so so much easier:(.

I just cant seem to get hang of it:crying:. If you are getting for home, then i dont think its a problem at all:)
